Times are weird. Things are changing. But spending a perfectly good afternoon grilling and chilling with the lab is always welcome. Every day I feel so honored to be at the wheel of a ship crewed by such amazing young scientists.

I also think a new paradigm needs to be established here. We need to submit grants assuming they will NOT be funded. The 90% of the grant that is complete admin BS should not be included. Streamline to 85% based on the research strategy. Work out the budget after peer review.
Obviously, correct response is "more grant $". But here in reality - institutions & funding agencies need to think harder about opportunity costs when their ppl submit & review grants that don't get funded. I help advise the RRF, who recently went to competitive LOI.

If you are an @AACR member and are part of the Cancer Immunology (CIMM) Working Group, consider voting for me for Chair in 2026 - instructions should have been sent to all members' email. Election closes July 23rd!
The White House is reportedly working to kill a “potentially explosive” story from the Wall Street Journal relating to Trump’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. Trump is personally calling them to try to prevent it from being published.
Not exactly sure how defunding NPR and PBS makes our country great. I'm sure kids in red states also watch Sesame Street?

This was definitely not on my MAHA 2025 bingo card.
Trump's EPA intends to reverse a ban on asbestos, a carcinogen that causes disease and death from exposure.
Friendly reminder that the taxpayer dollars to fund today’s dumb military parade could support projects in around 24 research labs for the next 5 years.
Imagine if they spent this money on kids cancer research instead.
BREAKING: In shocking footage of Trump in 2020 that is now going viral, Trump says it’s against the law for a president to call in the National Guard on his own: “We can't call in the National Guard unless we're requested by a governor.” MAGA = 🤡.
Breaking news: Staff at the National Institutes of Health have issued a declaration calling on their director to depoliticize the agency and reverse spending cuts. scim.ag/3FN7HHK
Trump threatens Elon Musk with "serious consequences" and then Elon immediately deletes all of his critical Epstein tweets. What a goddamn coward
