ex-ex-ex-Labour Party member, relapsed recluse, but always a socialist.
If a new left party is to get anywhere in terms of making genuinely left arguments that have popular resonance, the target needs to be not "elites" nor a "rigged system", but the British state understood, at least within the party, as the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie.
How we get the public to understand imperialism is the question. Corbyn was not destroyed as Labour Leader because of some mild social democratic domestic policies. It was his anti imperialism that was unacceptable to the ruling classes.
Ever had a sense that the Israeli elite are just beginning to be nervous that they aren't going to get exactly what they want from here on?
Until you cut off all arms sales, end all military & intelligence support & all diplomatic cover this is worth less than an insult. The blood of countless thousands of innocent kids is all over your hands.
Yes, and the verdict on both occasions was more votes than Starmer and his racist gangsters could manage with the whole establishment behind them
you literally support a party that wants the UK to be Trump's sloppy seconds
Can I suggest a name for Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana’s new party? Britain Last. That should make it clear.
The right of Palestinians to a state of their own doesn't depend on your hurty feelings.
Our response to the Mayor of London's call for the UK to unilaterally recognise a Palestinian state
It’s funny reading the replies and seeing people who are furiously denying that the ideas she mentioned are taught but also completely affirming they in fact believe those things
The people claiming this is a "blood libel" are unserious to the point of abject absurdity. Judaism is like Christianity, Islam, or any other major tradition, in that contains multitudes. Polar opposite messages can be & have been articulated within the tradition's language. 🧵
At my Jewish primary school & cheder, we were taught not only that Arab lives were worth less than Jewish ones, but that "Palestinians" didn't exist. Anyone who denies this is commonplace within Jewish communities is lying. Watch the film 'Israelism'.
This clip was just your bogstandard "Reform MP talking bollocks, more at 11" but there's an amazing twist at the end. MP: "This street in my constituency has been ruined by illegal immigrants!" People who live there: "No it hasn't, it's fine." MP: "Shut up or I'll sue you."
Surprise, surprise it turns out Sarah Pochin(Reform MP) was lying about a street in her Runcorn constituency.
The relish for bullying and thuggery makes me want to puke.
I asked Jeremy Corbyn if he felt vindicated after being relentlessly smeared for his pro-Palestine advocacy: "I have a house. I live a normal life. Somebody my age in Gaza doesn't even have water. It's about others, and it's our duty to use that privilege to support them."
Israel could built full-on death camps with crematoria in Gaza and the usual cast of idiots on here would respond by saying "well, if you don't like it, blame Hamas."
Like the slaughter in Yemen carried out by the Saudis with Western arms and participation? The one that Corbyn tried to stop British weapons contributing to but lost the vote because Labour right MP's, disproportionately from Labour Friends of Israel, refused to back him? /1
There have been plenty of genocides across the world over the last decade that the left could not have given less of a fuck about.
Keir Starmer needs to be flushed back down into the sewer from whence he came, and the sooner the better. He is further poisoning British politics every bit as much as Farage, for whom he is now actively paving the way.
We’re cracking down on migrants working illegally as food delivery riders. We'll share asylum accommodation locations with Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats so they can take action if riders are staying there. We will do what it takes to ensure fairness for British people.
For those saying I'm lying, or that my experiences aren't representative, here's @simonerzim talking about her Jewish upbringing in LA. Anti-Arab racism, and the epistemological genocide of Palestinians, is an integral part of Jewish education the world over.
At my Jewish primary school & cheder, we were taught not only that Arab lives were worth less than Jewish ones, but that "Palestinians" didn't exist. Anyone who denies this is commonplace within Jewish communities is lying. Watch the film 'Israelism'.
The whole point of asking "do you condemn Hamas" instead of "do you condemn the killing of civilians" is to avoid establishing the principle that killing civilians is wrong—groups must be condemned because of what they are (or are presented as being), not because of what they do.
"Do you condemn Hamas?" Many of Hamas' strongest Palestinian critics & rivals would always answer like Mahmoud "I condemn the killing of civilians" Because we know this question aims to: 1- Distract from genocide 2- Whitewash genocide 3- Blame Palestinians for Israel's genocide…
