What the Shadow Home Secretary fails to mention here is that of the 1,316 decline in officer numbers since 31 March 2024, 94% of them were cut by June of last year. This was under the previous Government - when he was the Policing Minister.

With the news that 4 people died in the incident at Southend Airport, I am sending my condolences and thoughts to the families of those lost, the airport staff, and those first on the scene of this tragedy.

The forced installation of prepayment meters was a national scandal, with vulnerable people having their homes broken into by energy companies. This scandal should never have happened. Today we deliver on our promise to those victims, and deliver proper compensation.
