St Luke’s Hospice is to get a £665k boost thanks to a government cash pot. The funding, announced this week, means families will see further improvements to end of life care and has been welcomed by @LukePollard, @FredThomasUK and Cllr Mary Aspinall 👇 plymouthherald.co.uk/news/plymouth-…
It was good to open the Devonport Open Day today. First time in nearly two decades the dockyard and naval base has been open like this. Huge congratulations to the team behind this. A great day for families today and for the public tomorrow.
The @HMNBDevonport open day is officially opened by @LukePollard - after an invigorating introduction from our very own Naval Base town crier! Oh yay indeed!
Fantastic end to day one of my summer school: 📷 A panel on local government with elected councillors from Labour, Lib Dems, Greens and Conservatives. 📷 A session on journalism with BBC's Martyn Oates, ITV's Lucy McDaid, Cornwall Live's Lee Trewhela and Radio Exe's Josh Tate.

Today in my summer school for young people in Plymouth, we've also... 🔎... heard from the Parliamentary Engagement team about how Parliament works - from MPs, to Lords, to petitions and debates. ❓... held a Q&A session to put me through my paces.

As part of my summer school I want every young person to hear different political views and perspectives. Next up at my summer school is the local government panel of parties who have councillors on Plymouth city council. #LukeMP

My 2025 summer school for Plymouth's young people is underway! I'm delighted to be running it, with speakers across the political spectrum, for the fourth year.
Children with SEND will always have a legal right to support. Labour will not just protect but improve that support. But I'll take no lessons from the Tories, who left behind a 'lose, lose, lose' system in their own words. I don't know how they have the brass neck.
Fantastic visit to Interfish to see their 'Sound Seafood' range. Interfish has been based in Plymouth since 1977. Thank you to Lewis, Andrew, Declan, Archie and the rest of the team for their work to encourage more people to try British fish.

UK and Türkiye agree big step towards multi-billion-pound export of Typhoon fighter jets. 🇬🇧🇹🇷
Türkiye is a key @NATO ally. Defence Secretary @JohnHealey_MP met his counterpart Yaşar Güler in Istanbul today to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on a future Typhoon jet exports deal. 🇬🇧🤝🇹🇷 This will help secure thousands of UK jobs making defence an engine for growth.
It was great to speak with folks at the Learning Disability Employment Service at Scott Business Park. Run by 'Pluss', this service funded by @plymouthcc helps people with learning disabilities or autism in Plymouth to build confidence and skills. seetec.co.uk/how-we-can-hel…

So well played England. Through to the finals again. What an effort. Superb work @Lionesses 🏴🏴🏴
WE'RE IN THE #WEURO2025 FINAL! 🙌
There were new traders in Plymouth Market on Friday as these green-fingered young people sold fruit and veg they've grown in their school gardens. Well done to Laira Green, Keyham Barton, Marlborough Primary, & St Andrews CofE for taking part in the Young Marketeers programme.

🚗 Consultation on private parking companies: I know lots of people in my patch have had problems with private parking companies. I'm glad the government had opened a public consultation to better protect motorists, open until 5th September: consult.communities.gov.uk/off-road-parki…

Labour is cleaning up the mess the Tories left behind.
This is the biggest overhaul of the water sector in a generation. My government will abolish Ofwat and establish a single powerful regulator to prevent water pollution and protect families from bill hikes. Ending the chaos of the past. Delivering for working people.
NEW: Labour is abolishing Ofwat and putting working people first by preventing water pollution and protecting families from bill hikes.
Really pleased that work is progressing well on the new look Armada Way scheme. More trees, more accessibility and a giant new playground are all part of the @plymouthlabour city council scheme. Will be excellent once it’s all completed. plymouthherald.co.uk/news/plymouth-…
As I’ve always said. When it comes to the populist right you need only ask one question: how? Turns out they have “no idea”.
No idea. No answers.
It might have been a soggy Stoke Fun Day but the community came out and ensured it was a great indoor event due to the weather warning. Well done to the organisers and all those in Stoke Village who pulled together to make today such a success despite the weather.
