Can we remember when writing about housing, that the current planning system was created with the express intention of stopping development other than that development directed or controlled by government.
Well yes. The current planning system was created because government wanted to stop development like that described here. It started with the Ribbon Development Act 1935, then the London Green Belt Act 1938 and when Labour came to power the TCPA 1947. observer.co.uk/news/opinion-a…
About time someone said this. The accusation of anti-semitism has been weaponised to close down legitimate debate over Israeli policies. The most extreme versions are those used against universities in the US, but there are evident signs of it in Australia and even New Zealand.
Israel and many Israelis are increasingly weaponizing the term "antisemitism." What once denoted terrifying hatred has become a shield for deflecting legitimate criticism of government policy | Opinion | @adizes haaretz.com/opinion/2025-0…
In a blow to anyone hoping to one day own their own property, the Government has caved to misanthropic stagnation advocacy groups. In the planning process, the needs of newts and fish come ABOVE those of the average Brit.
BREAKING 🚨 We've had a leak that the government has GIVEN IN to the Vegetable Lobby on the Planning and Infrastructure Bill. In a dirty deal for silence of any further criticism, they've agreed to WEAKEN the Bill and water it down even further. They've backed the blockers.
I’ve been going off like on twitter but really quite shy on posting on my blog, Taipology. I really do think of that as the “final draft” of my thinking and there’s been so many big changes of late I second-guess myself. But no more! In my opinion, I’ve written a lot of posts…
Macron, like a growing number of world leaders, has been exasperated by Netanyahu’s refusal to end the war despite Gaza having been largely reduced to rubble and tens of thousands of its inhabitants killed. trib.al/ISae6QH
The suffering and starvation unfolding in Gaza is unspeakable and indefensible.

@ShangguanJiewen “The Rise of the Red Dragon: Luck, Power, and the Identity of a Manufacturing Empire” So someone told you China was collapsing? Here’s what they didn’t tell you: 🇨🇳 China is projected to account for 45% of the world’s total manufacturing value added (MVA) by…
So fool told you China was going to collapse? The opposite is true: China is now close to being half of the world's manufacturing.
I’m a huge fan of Stephen Kotkin, but for him the original sin of China being a communist country will never go away, even as everyone can see with our own eyeballs how much it has changed since the days of Mao. There are ppl out there who have a spiritual aversion to seeing the…
One thing I tried to push Stephen Kotkin on: Okay, you say that China saw decades of double-digit growth not thanks to the CCP, but because of the hard work and entrepreneurialism of the Chinese people. But India also has lots of hard working entrepreneurial people. Why does…
Aid centers in Gaza have become arenas of death, where residents risk their lives daily just for a scrap of food haaretz.com/middle-east-ne…
Once you realize that China is not communist and the USA is not capitalist, the world starts to make a lot more sense.
Jews don’t feel uncomfortable because there is a bake sale for Gaza. We feel uncomfortable because there is a genocide being waged in our names, and we should feel uncomfortable.
This insanity requires new profanity words
Daily genocide. 100s killed on a daily basis, women and children, while UK politicians obsess over BBC documentaries and impartiality on Gaza, and American politicians obsess over an Arabic word that was never used or endorsed by a New York mayoral candidate. Sickening.
BREAKING: At least 116 Palestinians, including 38 people near Gaza Humanitarian Foundation aid sites, have been killed in Israeli attacks across Gaza today, according to medical sources in the enclave. 🔴 LIVE updates: aje.io/f6uvdq
Nice T Shirt Amazing that stating obvious truths is controversial in this day and age
My man's covered all the bases. "1 t-shirt to rule them all!!!" 🧙♂️
Absolute travesty for growth. What is this government for?

China just unveiled its new maglev train at the Modern Railways Expo in Beijing. With phase one complete, it’s designed to hit 600 km/hr (373 miles per hour), which cuts travel time from Shanghai to Beijing to just 2.5 hours (down from the current 4–6 hours by high-speed rail).
It’s a huge relief that LGB Alliance is being represented fairly and accurately by the BBC at last. It’s all we’ve ever asked for.
Based on analyses from OBR, CER, and Cambridge Econometrics, Brexit has cost each UK household approximately £22,000 cumulatively since 2016. This factors in GDP shortfall (~5% level), devaluation-driven inflation (£400+ annual per home initially), trade/logistics costs (£100bn+…
