The PM needs to govern as he said he would by following a growth first strategy. Growth was mentioned countless times during the election campaign but seems to have been forgotten upon entering Number 10
"Very often, political leaders, particularly in my party, go straight to the spend or tax lever. I go first to the growth lever." (May 2023) Sounds great... but has he actually governed like that?
REALITY DENIAL: this Minister describes the Planning Bill BEFORE the Government's surrender to the Vegetable Lobby. It no longer works like this. Developers pay into the fund AND must demonstrate they are improving nature before any work can start. Double-whammy, not win-win.
Keir Starmer promised he would back the builders, not the blockers, in reforming the broken planning system. Now he's surrendering to the Vegetable Lobby and gutting what should be a landmark Planning Bill. He is backing the blockers.
