I'm pleased to announced that the @CDNConstFound was granted intervener status in Hak v Quebec, the landmark case heading to the Supreme Court of Canada over Bill 21, Quebec's ban on religious symbols by certain public sector workers, and section 33 of the Charter.
NEW: The @CDNConstFound has been granted leave to intervene in the Supreme Court challenge to Quebec’s Bill 21. We’ll argue that even if judges can declare rights have been violated after the notwithstanding clause is invoked, it wouldn’t be just and appropriate to award damages.

Women trying to stop a bill in Niagara Falls have YET AGAIN been forbidden from speaking at ANOTHER city council meeting. In June, @cvangeyn wrote to the city urging it to revoke its unconstitutional ban on protest signs in council meetings, or be prepared for the CCF to sue.
