“The idea of wilderness needs no defense, only defenders.” ~ Edward Abbey (Views are my own)
We know, with certainty, that wolves stabilize rather than deteriorate deer and elk populations. It is piercing irony that in the same region of the southwest where Aldo Leopold had his revelation about the importance of wolves, old mythology prevails. santafenewmexican.com/opinion/my_vie…
Here are some facts, not opinions, facts that the media won’t tell you. Each one of these is a hard fact based on history and evidence. None of these are my opinion, not even one. Let’s start with the obvious one. There is no genocide in Gaza. No starvation and no genocide.
When a child tortures an animal, the parents are genuinely worried they're brought a psychopath into the world. When a grown adult does it, that's fine apparently. Weird.
They just all stand around and watch the struggling fox, leaning on their vehicles and drinking coffee.
This is what Israel is up against. These are the people which surround the world’s only Jewish state. If it wasn’t for the IDF, they would do to the Jews what they are now doing to the poor Druze, chucking them from buildings, raping and murdering them like they did to those…
Syrian Islamist issues warning to the Druze: “Get out of Jaramana. Get out of every mixed area. Your fight isn’t just with Syrians, it’s with the entire Muslim world. We’ll hunt you down wherever you are, just like the Jews. You’re no different from the Israelis.”
‘Macrons file US lawsuit over claims France’s first lady was born male’ This either spells the end of deranged, Jew-obsessed conspiracy theorist @RealCandaceO or (in a disaster scenario) she’s right 🙉 and the conspiracy spreaders will have their day! on.ft.com/46pLA59
Hamas, emboldened by the idiotic letter this week from Western governments, row back on their agreements and harden their negotiating positions. No words. We are governed by morons.
🚨 Hamas has backtracked on several issues that were already agreed upon, including humanitarian matters. 🚨 According to Hamas's Tuesday response, they are now demanding that all humanitarian aid enter Gaza exclusively through the United Nations, despite previous agreements…
How did so many conservatives go from being conservationists to being the enemy of wildlife? 'How the right wing is politicising the return of the wolf' Important article this. We must not allow the wolf to be exterminated once again. independent.co.uk/voices/wolf-fa…
The Russians blew up a huge Soviet-era dam on Ukraine’s Dnipro river. A resulting ecological miracle is unfolding - a vast mosaic of floodplain forest and wetland is reappearing, fast. Dams are truly a curse. theguardian.com/environment/20…
"Inflation rise takes the UK closer to debt-crisis cliff edge" – my latest @Telegraph column Britain is heading for a very serious fiscal crisis – not unlike the 1976 fiasco which saw this country go "cap in hand" to the International Monetary Fund for a bail-out. Government…
Indeed. Labour inherited a huge national debt from the Tories. It then proceeded to borrow even more rather than put the public finances right. And much of the Tory debt was accumulated by spending on furlough, household energy bill subsidies, NHS, welfare — on which Labour urged…
The overwhelming majority of that borrowing we are paying vast interest on was added by Conservative Governments.
Most of American agriculture is not ‘farming’, it’s mining, of *finite* soil, water and the other remnants of a once vastly productive prairie ecosystem. And for the most part they aren’t even growing food for people, but corn for ethanol, factory livestock feed etc. Madness.
“Fertilizing crops can’t keep up with the amount of productivity that’s lost by erosion.” That the whole ballgame. If you can’t take care of the single most valuable resource for your business, what the fuck are you even doing? This is mining, not farming.

“Certain things, they should stay the way they are. You ought to be able to stick them in one of those big glass cases and just leave them alone.” ~ J D Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye Cricket - test match cricket - is one of them. Can't wait for the fourth test this week.

Very satisfying to see such an ugly building come down.
The demolition of Sheraton Crossroads Hotel in Mahwah, New Jersey
The world shrugs at Druze slaughtered in Syria—just like it shrugs at Jews murdered in Israel. Different victims, same Islamist hate. Druze and Jews stand together against a threat the world still refuses to see — and won’t until it’s too late.
Ministers commit to tackling *all* forms of water pollution in England and Wales. This is important. Our rivers, lakes and coastlines are polluted not only by sewage, but by disgusting agricultural practices as well as industry and run off from roads. theguardian.com/environment/20…
'Brazil passes ‘devastation bill’ that drastically weakens environmental law' Disastrous day in the war on nature as Brazilian agriculture and logging interests get their way, again. We have one home. We're destroying it. We must be mad. theguardian.com/world/2025/jul…
This is what I want to read over my cornflakes. Steve Reed recognises that runoff from farms & roads also makes up a critical part of the pollutants going into rivers. My work here is done 😃theguardian.com/environment/20…
One wonders if the citizens of London had been given a vote, which vision of contemporary London we would have voted for. (For comparative purposes, the neighbourhood on the right has more density (homes per sq. m.) than the neighbourhood on the left.)
Dresden. Every building pictured dates from the last twenty years, the result of a 2002 municipal referendum in which the city decisively voted in favour of reconstructing its historic centre.
