Messier 81 Bode’s Galaxy captured from my patio on six nights in early March 😊🔭 It was shot on the EdgeHD 8 for a total integration time of about 19 hours in LRGB and 12 hours in Ha to enhance the star forming regions. #Astrophotography

RIP Ozzy. Right after the recent huge Black Sabbath final concert. Sad.. In my opinion the Creators of Heavy Metal 🤘🏽🙏
Baby elephant nap time 😴🥰
Shhh, the babies are sleeping! (Sulwe closest, Lenny fidgeting behind, and Zigi is seen at the end) With three infants in the mix, our Umani herd now has a decidedly different rhythm. As adults, elephants sleep the least of any mammal, logging as little as two hours a day. But…
📡 First processed light from Aquila Observatory: NGC 281 - aka the Pacman Nebula. An H II region in Cassiopeia, ~9,200 ly distant, packed with Bok globules, OB stars & maser-traced star formation. Sh2-184 is chomping through the Perseus Arm. 🛰️👾
IC 1311 · Open Cluster of diamond stars, served on a gooey red bed of hydrogen. I shot this over past 4 nights. 14 hours, 40 min. No filters. Fun fact: In December I can shoot as much in one night here as I can in July in 4 nights. Full tech stats: astrobin.com/b4bbdo/…
The Angel Nebula, NGC 2170, located in the constellation Monoceros.....had never taken pics of this one before and was a fun one to do! #Astrophotography @starfront_obs
“I love your eyes. They remind me of ...” “… the ocean?” “No. The reflective coating of a Celestron schmidt-cassegrain optical assembly.” 💙💙💙
Brief further process to add some large scale MLT to the outer swirls and desaturate the background a bit. Higher res image can be found here: astrob.in/65zt7m/C/
I processed all the data I'd ever collected, since Jan 2022, on the Whirlpool Galaxy - some 101 hours, with three scopes and five cameras, plus a further 24 hrs from @mathcancer (Thanks, Paul) for this image. Full details and hi res image in the astrobin link below
It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and…
My latest capture - a dark nebula called the Stingray Nebula (SH2-63). Dark nebulae glow primarily in infrared light, but also reflect visible light from surrounding stars. Celestron RASA telescope ZWO ASI533MC color camera Antlia L-Filter Starfront Observatories, TX

Some people worship athletes or actors. As for me, I admire great scientists. The guys who developed quantum mechanics, differential geometry, etc. Sure, Brad Pitt is a good-looking guy, but Grigori Perelman proved Poincaré's conjecture.
Elephants are wonderfully demonstrative with their emotions. In the wild, they show affection through trunk hugs and body contact. For our orphans, an ‘elephant hug’ means the same thing — I love you! Wherever you are in the world, you can connect with an orphaned elephant like…
🔭M51-Whirlpool Galaxy🔭Is located ~31M l-y from Earth in the constellation Canes Venatici. Overall is 88% the size of the Milky Way and ~400M y old. The companion galaxy NGC 5195, has been interacting for hundred million years. astrobin.com/full/gza49l/B/ #Astrophotography #Galaxy
A closer look at a recent 26h LRGB image of Messier 13, so many stars! 🔭
Say hello to little Chamboi 😀
Chamboi may be (relatively) small, but he knows exactly what he wants — and he’s not afraid to ask for it! This inquisitive young rhino loves to investigate anything new in his space, always eager to explore the world around him. At the mud bath, he’s still very much a baby,…
