Latest collaboration with Ollie @carefreeastro (thanks mate!) Looking back to the dawn of time, well almost, from our back gardens. The amazing Einstein Ring, a gravitationally lensed galaxy 11 bn light years away, so over 80% of the way back to the Big Bang 'dawn of time' 1/

In a world increasingly influenced and controlled by autocrats, extremists and fanatics, it feels wonderful to just be Human.
Brief further process to add some large scale MLT to the outer swirls and desaturate the background a bit. Higher res image can be found here: astrob.in/65zt7m/C/
I processed all the data I'd ever collected, since Jan 2022, on the Whirlpool Galaxy - some 101 hours, with three scopes and five cameras, plus a further 24 hrs from @mathcancer (Thanks, Paul) for this image. Full details and hi res image in the astrobin link below
IC 2631 is a wispy, well-imaged reflection nebula located about 630 light years distant in the far southern constellation of Chamaeleon. About 14.9 degrees below the Galactic Plane, this beautiful nebula is powered by the massive pre-main sequence star, HD 97300. 📷 SPG #IC2631
The Ring Nebula, now with Argon! Very excited about this one which incorporates data taken with a new [Ar III] filter available for the @QHYCCD miniCAM8M system. More details are available on my astrobin: app.astrobin.com/i/jk9lev #astrophotography #nebula
Abell 39 captured from my patio on seven nights last month 😊🔭 This bubble like planetary nebula was shot on the EdgeHD 8 for a total integration time of 27 hours in mono using Ha and OIII narrowband filters and RGB filters for the stars. #Astrophotography
NGC 6543 The Cat’s Eye Nebula captured from my patio on seven nights 😊🔭 This was shot on the EdgeHD 8 for a total integration time of about 27 hours in mono. It’s a combination of Ha and OIII narrowband data with LRGB data for the bright core and the stars. #Astrophotography

One of the grandest views in the sky! Under a dark sky the flattened shape, the dark dust clouds and the bulge of the core of the Milky Way become clearly visible. It becomes obvious we are looking edge on at a spiral galaxy. We are immersed in the Milky Way, in its disk and…
It's that time of the year, when the Summer Milky Way shines in all its glory! It is a magnificent sight with the naked eye under dark skies, with some descriptions likening it to white marble crossed by dark veins. I agree. Have you seen it? Share your photos 👍
LDN43, AKA The Cosmic Bat Nebula, is located ~1,400 light years from Earth in the constellation Ophiuchus. This dark nebula contains dense clouds of cosmic dust that when illuminated by background stars, produce a silhouette resembling a bat with its wings outstretched. #astro
Sombrero galaxy with the 24" Dobsonian. Very happy with the details in the final image considering i only stacked 156 x 3 sec subs (7.8min). Video for the interested - youtu.be/J9KUZtci-rQ #astrophotography #telescope #galaxy

Incredible image of the Rosette Nebula surrounded by the bright blue stars of open cluster NGC 2244, whose winds and energetic light are evacuating the nebula's center. Image by the @AstroSabadell member Toni Fabiani. This image has been published as APOD. Congrats Toni Fabiani‼️
