Blackwall Tunnel was as busy at weekends as during the week but no rush hour. Greenwich Wire notes: “The disappearance of queues has disguised a small rise in weekend traffic through Blackwall/Silvertown. Will this continue? Has the tunnel induced demand?” greenwichwire.co.uk/2025/07/23/bla…

I recall the U.S. refusing to call out genocide in Rwanda. They buried information to justify inaction.I went to Rwanda, interpreted for a BBC World Service journo, saw the aftermath with my own eyes. The horrific atrocities I saw inflicted on children there, are same in Gaza.
France is planning to recognise the state of Palestine. Meanwhile, Keir Starmer has described the starvation in Gaza as “unspeakable and indefensible” but still won't DO anything. Recognising the state of Palestine is the least our government can do.
How do Keir Starmer and David Lammy sleep at night?
Several people have been checking the status. Commuters, parents with prams, shoppers to Greenwich and many more. We don’t know what’s going on & judging by the answer to my question, neither does the Council. The officer who answered this question should’ve checked first.
The lights are on but there’s no one at home. Not since Monday. It makes no sense that two months ago @LiftPrecision was ‘waiting on a quote for a spare part’. We quite rightly assumed they’d be fitting that this week.
Users like Tami really must be a priority. Some kind passers-by helped her down 87 steps where the lift has been broken since 28 May. She’s determined to keep mobile despite her disability (can’t use wheelchair here). @InclusionLondon @MayorofLondon @willnorman @SebDance @TfL

Today I was honoured to attend a hugely important event on Vision Zero at City Hall, ran by the indomitable Assembly member Caroline Russell, Green group leader and Transport Lead. She started with a powerful speech. “Vision Zero is the most important policy that TFL has. - 1/12
Mr Duvall has a lot to be proud of when it comes to the history of Woolwich. But a vital cross river link for those who live in his manor doesn’t seem to be of much significance to him.
I wrote to Duvall some time ago to ask if he would get involved in trying to get the Woolwich tunnel north lift repaired. Got a reply from one of his staff explaining that he was aware the lift is out. That was it. Well it’s been out almost 3 years now, I guess he forgot.
Does the London Borough of Newham have a contractual relationship with the Royal Borough of Greenwich to help maintain the lifts at the Woolwich foot tunnel? Or is money forthcoming only if they feel like it? @NewhamLondon @Royal_Greenwich
At last! Greenwich Green, Cllr Tamasin Rhymes at her first full Council meeting last night asking questions on behalf of constituents. So proud.
Out with Hayley weeding on a designated glyphosate-free street. Please do consider participating in the scheme initiated by @GGCN2023. We’re very grateful the Council is supportive and special thanks to the officer involved in the scheme. #LoveYourNeighbourhood. #BanGlyphosate

At 07.11 this morning Neil Robertson of @GreenwichCycle made excellent points to @BBCRadioLondon New roads = more traffic It’s the *tolls* that reduce traffic at Blackwall Tunnel Traffic will increase when free public transport ends in a year bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/li…
⏳ Final week to sign up to the Green Party. 🗳️ Vote for Bold Leadership on August 1st.
We have great events at the club including walks. Why not pop along to our meeting tonight to see images of our recent walkabout in Greenwich Park and get to meet other members at @MycenaeHouse?! It's free (+ two more sessions of your choosing)
🚨 RIGHT NOW opposite Labour Party HQ in London. We’ve turned their street into Jabaliya camp in Gaza. A genocide is happening, but the Labour government is supplying weapons, intelligence and diplomatic cover to the perpetrator. Protesting this is not terrorism.
@ZackPolanski is the right leader at the right time and I think we should all be voting for him this August, find out why ⬇️ and RT if you agree! #BackZack 💚
🎉 Delighted to have the support of Leda Schiltz. 🙌🏼 Leda was Sian Berry's campaign organiser in Brighton Pavillion in 2024. 💚 Absolutely delighted she's adding her name to the growing list of former staff members backing our campaign! 🚨 Voting begins in 10 days! #BackZack
I love this view of Docklands seen from Rocklands. There's an ArtBeat Stars office around here, shared with a beloved alternative rock band. Here at the planet's time zone, we are completely round the bend. Of the River Thames, that is (see BBC Eastenders credits for info.)

Now working again! You just never know! I must thank @Royal_Greenwich for being so prompt in clearing litter from inside the tunnel and also ..vomit 🙄. It must by a thankless task for street cleaners so am thanking them here for all they do. 🙏🏼🙌
Unfortunately the south lift is now out despite sign saying it’s working. On north side the shaft pit is full of water. Wondering how long it was left like that.
Stop selling arms to Israel then.
The suffering of civilians in Gaza has reached new depths. Alongside 25 other partners, the UK message is clear: the war in Gaza must end now. We need an immediate ceasefire, release of all hostages and a full resumption of aid. gov.uk/government/new…
