I updated the blog post with a simple function to calculate the membrane voltage sag in Python. I also included an example of using the function within a loop to analyze multiple files. Hope you find it useful! spikesandbursts.wordpress.com/2022/05/13/pat…

An ant venom peptide, Ta3a, binds to voltage-gated sodium channels, holds their voltage sensors in the activated (up) configuration to create a bilayer of fixed positive charges and mobile anions. No wonder ant stings are so painful……clever ants!! sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
We have a new paper for you: “Structure of tetrameric forms of the serotonin-gated 5-HT3A receptor ion channel”. Here we found that the prototypical pentameric ligand gated ion channel can form stable tetramers and characterized it with cryo-EM/ET and molecular simulations.
Congratulations on a cool ion channel biophysics study.

I had a lovely visit to @IMBatUQ and @QldBrainInst this week. Discussed lots of great brain science and got to see superstar @RosemaryJCater new lab! Thanks to @AnggonoLab for the invite and hosting me. @DehorterLab @PraneshPadmana1
It was my absolute pleasure to host @renaemryan1 for the Centre for Chemistry and Drug Discovery seminar @IMBatUQ this week! She shared such beautiful research and it was so fun to have my PhD advisor get to know my new academic home!
Late to the party, as was published in June, but happy to be part of this work by G.Berecki, S.Petrou and others, in @Brain1878. Not all SCN2A variants causing neonatal-onset DEE are straightforward gain-of-function: a finding with treatment implications. academic.oup.com/brain/advance-…
