Our latest work is out today in @ScienceMagazine: a self-organizing system that models organizer-driven patterning and commissural axon guidance in human neural development. This was achieved with human midline #assembloids by combining floor plate and spinal cord #organoids…
Our study on the impact of altered serotonin (5-HT) signalling on developing sensory cortex is now live @NatureComms We use longitudinal in vivo imaging of 5-HT & neural activity to show that this neuromodulator is buffered in early life to promote bottom-up instruction.
1/ 🚨 Our new paper is online in @Nature ! As its first author, I’m enthusiastic to finally share it with you all!🎉 🧠 We discovered a mechanistic link between cellular energy metabolism and the control of the need to sleep 💤 👉 nature.com/articles/s4158… @OxfordDPAG 🧵👇
1/ Better late than never, here’s a long thread of threads summarizing our MOSAIC preprint. If you’re curious about the process by which a new microscope is conceived and brought into the world, this is the thread for you. If you’ve come for eye candy, there’s plenty of that too…
Rapid rebalancing of co-tuned ensemble activity in the auditory cortex elifesciences.org/reviewed-prepr…
A cell type in the visual system that receives feedback about limb movement: doi.org/10.1016/j.cub.… LT52 neurons in Drosophila visual system are strongly activated when flies groom their heads and driven by a combination of visual and non-visual inputs.

Now online! A postnatal molecular switch drives activity-dependent maturation of parvalbumin interneurons dlvr.it/TLzNQ2
Learning, prediction accuracy, and neural plasticity in sensory cortex "Here we review studies demonstrating anatomical, synaptic, and task-dependent response plasticity in sensory cortex during learning." sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
Life without microglia "summarizes evidence from animal models of congenital microglial deficiency that postnatal neuronal development and synaptic refinement do not require the presence of microglia" doi.org/10.1016/j.tins…
Encoding of body state in whisker-related somatosensory cortex of freely moving mice: doi.org/10.1016/j.cub.… Multiple dimensions of body state encoded in the whisker-related somatosensory cortex, notably head-body angle and locomotion

Activity-dependent development of synaptic circuits mediates direction selectivity in an axis-specific manner "...spontaneous activity selectively influences the formation of precise wiring essential for motion detection along the horizontal axis." cell.com/cell-reports/f…
Is criticality a unified setpoint of brain function?: cell.com/neuron/fulltex… "We perform a meta-analysis of 140 datasets published between 2003 and 2024. We find that a long-standing controversy is the product of a methodological choice with no bearing on underlying dynamics."

Three-photon microscopy: an emerging technique for deep intravital brain imaging: nature.com/articles/s4158… Review of the principles and applications of three-photon (3P) microscopy.

New in Current Biology "Presynaptic and postsynaptic determinants of claustro-cortical connectivity" CLA→ACC projections are highly specific: defined by presynaptic identity, postsynaptic target, and cortical layer. Check it here: sciencedirect.com/science/articl… #Neuroscience #Claustrum
🚨New in @CellCellPress We discovered that hippocampal replays in natural-scale environments are highly fragmented, not full-length. doi.org/10.1016/j.cell… 👇🧵
Our brain-to-voice synthesis brain-computer interface paper was published in @Nature today! This neuroprosthesis synthesized the voice of a man with ALS instantaneously, enabling him to ‘speak’ flexibly and modulate the prosody of his BCI-voice. 1/7 Paper: rdcu.be/eqH3C
Inferring internal states across mice and monkeys using facial features "we identify, on a single-trial basis, a set of internal states that reliably predicts when the animals are going to react to the presented stimuli." nature.com/articles/s4146…
