“Young voters do not look at our politics and see any good guys. They see a dying empire led by bad people.” -@TheRealERS Views my own.
The cost of the housing subsidies, union construction requirements, infrastructure upgrades, and parks investments that councilmembers negotiate for is ultimately borne by the middle class renters who live in these homes, not the developers who build them.
Subjecting every new apartment building to subjective, politicized, project-by-project negotiations to extract costly concessions in exchange for permission to build is why housing is expensive in cities like New York and San Francisco.
That’s not the point. I support new housing in my district - but we also negotiate deeper affordability, union jobs, & significant investments in Parks and other infrastructure to meet needs of growing communities. This Commission has decided that shouldn’t happen any more.
The key issue on housing isn't regulation vs deregulation, it's centralization vs decentralization of decision making. Land use authority should be at the highest level to consider the broadest set of concerns, rather than letting a million fiefdoms be veto points.
Decentralization of land use authority is *the most significant driver* of NYC's affordable housing crisis. A strong state that can make clear, rational decisions with input from the community needs to eliminate hyperlocal governance veto points like this. This is how good…

The Charter Commission’s Final Report significantly weakens the City Council’s role in land use decisions. This shift toward executive control undermines democratic oversight and meaningful public engagement. I stand with my colleagues who are fighting back. Our statement below:
Only 5.1% of ballots were exhausted after 11 rounds! I think we can completely put to bed the (frankly insulting and condescending) idea that voters somehow can’t understand how to do Ranked Choice Voting.
🧵 The data you have all been waiting for! The NYC mayoral primary WITHOUT batch elimination (and some early analysis) 1) Zohran's first round (469,642) would have been enough to win against Cuomo's final round (443,229)
that's lander voters going: 73.0% zohran 27.0% cuomo and with exhausteds: 56.4% zohran 22.8% exhausted 20.8% cuomo

It’s time for Democrats to understand the existential threat. Republicans aren’t playing around and they will do this as long as it takes to keep power. It’s time we dilute VRA districts. There are plenty of Democratic districts that have 65-80% Dem performance.
Some redistricting news: MISSOURI Republicans are discussing a new 7R-1D map that would crack Dem Rep Emanuel Cleaver's Kansas City district The WH, which pushed TX to redistrict, is on board, per sources familiar The current map is 6R-2D punchbowl.news/article/campai…
The Final Map ! — You can see the Commie Corridor + Hillside Avenue from space — Mamdani blitzed Cuomo in Harlem, Hamilton Heights, & Bed-Stuy — Cuomo holds the UWS & UES, but submits a poor showing in Manhattan A new map of NYC: less stratified by race, more by housing and age
PRECINCT LEVEL RESULTS FOR THE FINAL ROUND ARE OUT!!!! Blue is Zohran, Yellow is Cuomo!
Imagine if the Democratic nominee won the primary by 11.6% in @AOC’s congressional district and she wouldn’t endorse them, what the media reaction would be…
In the final round of RCV, Zohran Mamdani won Hakeem Jeffries' Congressional District (NY8) by 11.6%. Jeffries, the House Democratic Leader, has not endorsed Mamdani, the Democratic nominee, ahead of the General Election in November.

The Gulf’s whole deal is to have a globally critical industry in order to get protection. They got lucky with the dead dinosaur juice, which brought British and then U.S. protection. But someday that’ll end. So now the plan is to become AI base #1 so the U.S. sticks around.
If Trump's AI deals in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates bear fruit, who will protect economically vital data centers from Iranian drones and missiles: America, first?
This letter is up to 222 Florida #Veterans signers. I’ll continuously update the list on FLVETSLETTER dot com, where you can also sign on. Planning to send it to elected officials soon, so add you name if you’re a Veteran in Florida!
Proud to amplify this letter signed by 125+ veterans in Florida in opposition to deployment of Marines for ICE operations in Florida. As @AlexanderMcCoy4 writes: "Inserting troops into domestic law enforcement undermines public safety and risks escalating tense situations." 1/2

The guy speaking at ~9:30 attributes the success of @ZohranKMamdani to “outside influence” by “George Soros.” Is the media going to ask @andrewcuomo @ericadamsfornyc & @CurtisSliwa condemn this antisemitic trope being invoked by these protestors? cc @jacobkornbluh @errollouis

Buried in amendments to the Interior Dept. Gov funding bill, is a stipulation that the Kennedy Center Opera House must be renamed the 'First Lady Melania Trump Opera House' in order to receive federal funds. The Appropriations Committee adopted that amendment by a vote of 33-25.
