Alex Davies-Jones MP
@AlexDaviesJones
Welsh Labour MP for Pontypridd 🌹🏴 Minister for Victims & Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) ⚖️
A huge privilege to be asked to serve in Government as Parliamentary Undersecretary in the @MoJGovUK I am committed to improving our criminal justice system, being a voice for victim-survivors & delivering the brilliant manifesto Labour were elected on🌹

A scheme to target the most dangerous domestic abusers will be rolled out to all Welsh police forces. Welsh Secretary @JoStevensLabour welcomes the news. “Women and children whose lives are blighted by violence and abuse must be protected and kept safe from their abusers.”
Victims shouldn’t have to change their lives to stay safe. That's why we’re making sure those who cause harm are held to account. Our new £53m investment will drive the largest-ever rollout to target the most dangerous domestic abuse perpetrators, stopping them from reoffending.
The suffering and starvation unfolding in Gaza is unspeakable and indefensible.

Last night I joined @LBC to speak about the long-overdue Orgreave inquiry. I’ve been pushing for this since I was elected in 2019, and I’m so proud the UK Labour Government is finally delivering justice. #Orgreave
Looking forward to taking part in Cross Questions later tonight 👇
On my @LBC show tonight... 7pm What should the pension age be? 8pm Cross Question with Alex Davies-Jones MP, Mark Garnier MP, Hilary Wainwright, Ali Miraj 9pm J D Vance is coming to the Cotswolds on a family vacation. Protesters say they will ruin his holiday.
This is me speaking in Parliament back in 2022, calling for justice for the miners and families affected by the Battle of Orgreave. I've raised this time and time again because it matters. Our communities have waited far too long.
The Battle of Orgreave was one of the most aggressive acts of state-sanctioned violence in British memory. My dad was there. He saw what happened with his own eyes. The Thatcher Govt and the Police sought to cover up their wrongdoing. We urgently need an Orgreave Inquiry.
I’m so pleased to see the UK Labour Government announce an inquiry into Orgreave. My dad was there. He saw what happened with his own eyes. Since being elected in 2019, I’ve been pushing for this inquiry, and I’m so glad it’s finally happening. theguardian.com/politics/2025/…
Promise made. Promise delivered. This Labour government is establishing an inquiry into the violent confrontation between police and picketers at Orgreave.

I met with the Minister for Victims to give the campaign to create a separate offence for desecrating a body my backing, reading a statement from my constituent Coral Jones, whose daughter April was murdered in 2012. Grieving families deserve closure and the law needs updating.
There is no place for racism in football or anywhere in society. I stand with Jess, the Lionesses, and any players who have suffered racism, on and off the pitch.
We stand with Jess, and all #Lionesses players past and present who have suffered racism. A message from the squad:
Heartbreaking to learn a child has lost their life in the devastating incident in Minehead. Thinking of all the families and loved ones of those injured and impacted by this horrific tragedy. Grateful for the emergency services' tireless efforts.
A heartbreaking update on the school bus crash in Somerset. There are no adequate words to acknowledge the death of a child. All my thoughts are with their parents, family and friends, and all those affected. Thank you to the emergency workers who are responding at pace — I’m…

When I met first met Pooja, I made a promise to her that I would ban ninja swords like the one that killed her son Ronan in 2022. Next month, it will be illegal to sell or own those kinds of weapons. The progress we’re making to tackle knife crime can and will save lives.
Losing a child to suicide is every parent's worst nightmare. I am in awe of the work that Andy, Mike and Tim of @3DadsWalking have done in memory of their daughters. Today we're releasing new guidance for schools to talk about suicide prevention and save more lives.
'It's going to save lives' #BBCBreakfast has learned that lessons on suicide prevention are being added to the school curriculum in England as part of new government guidance being published today. Andy Airey is one of the Three Dads Walking who have campaigned for the change…
