Ever been annoyed that your autofocus doesn't work with certain objectives? We have a solution! Great work by PhD student @AmirSTORMic
Struggling to focus your microscope? Use astigmatism! Very glad to share our latest preprint on the development of an active focus stabilisation system! A thread:
Day 4 (?) of #mmc2025 at the @UniversityLeeds #superresolution workshop, hearing from the great @manorlaboratory about mitochondria, deep learning and much more! 🔥
Just finished a lovely Keystone in beautiful Whistler, CA. Next up is the @RoyalMicroSoc 2025 meeting where I'm honored to be a plenary speaker (mmc-series.org.uk/conference/pro…), then giving another talk at the Leeds Super-Resolution workshop (rms.org.uk/rms-event-cale…)😅
Excited to share our latest paper published in Biomedical Optics Express! Huge thanks to my co-authors @RetoPaul @amsikking @astormic and Aleks Ponjavic for their invaluable contributions!
Our manuscript for remote focus stabilization for oblique plane microcopy is online: opg.optica.org/boe/fulltext.c…
Highly recommended job at a rising star lab! Go for it!
🚨We’re hiring! Passionate about #microscopy, #biophysics and #interdisciplinaryresearch? There's still time to apply for our EPSRC PhD project on how actin network architecture shapes the mechanical properties of cells at @sheffielduni Learn more/Apply: findaphd.com/phds/project/f…
Looking for a postdoc, we need you! single-molecule and microfluidics nerds! jobs.cam.ac.uk/job/49742/

Sunny Leeds and we are ready for Super-Resolution in the North meeting!🔬 The latest in super resolution microscopy with an exciting lineup of peers and researchers pushing boundaries at the molecular scale. Follow along for live updates! #SuperResolutionMicroscopy
OPM focus stabilisation implemented on a Raspberry PI!
We present long-term stabilization of an oblique plane microscope (OPM). By stabilizing the remote focus unit of an OPM, we can enable long-term acquisition without light-sheet drift. The feedback signal comes from a laser, no fluorescence is expended. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Super-resolution people in the North (and everywhere else!), it is that time of the year again. Please register and submit your abstract for this one-day event in Leeds focused on developments in super-resolution micorsocpy! rms.org.uk/rms-event-cale…

Huge Congratulations to @BruggemanEzra and all others, her latest work on single-molecule orientation imaging published in @naturemethods. Huge Effort. Many thanks for @rita_strack for facilitating. @ChemCambridge nature.com/articles/s4159…
Conference success! You can always trust in Thorlabs. #EMC2024 @Thorlabs

We've got all things astigmatic autofocusing here. Raspberry Pi by @astormic and OpenFrame by Imperial/Cairn #EMC2024

Super cool! Thanks for the highlight @rita_strack nature.com/articles/s4159…
PSF engineering typically requires a 4-f system, but this is not always feasible, e.g. due to size constraints. Nadav Opatovski attached a phase mask directly to the objective lens, see beads defocusing here. Tetrapod mask shown here (wait for the end):
