There are, in fact, Thirty Nine English ~Values~, and they start with “Of Faith In The HOLY TRINITY: There is but one living and true God, ever- lasting, without body, parts, or passions; of infinite power, wisdom, and goodness; the Maker, and Preserver of all things both…”
"There are five British values" is just unimprovable post-Blair deracination. 'We've reduced the last thousand years of your history into a checklist designed to avoid excluding anyone in an effort to fix the mess we've made of the country. You have five values now.' 'ok'
Yes. @KeswickMin if only there was someone who was solidly evangelical and who teaches Psalms at events called Psalm Roars and who has been to the Convention many times and who loves the Lake District...
MY PHOTO MADE IT ONTO THE BIG SCREEN!
We went for a walk this afternoon and spotted a lizard! #KesCon25
I like to imagine there was a Nazca child who would refuse to eat their mashed cassava unless it was served in the mice bowl
Bowl with mice decoration, Nazca culture, dating from 100–500 AD. Currently housed in the collection of The Princeton University Art Museum.
Perhaps a hot take: group recitation of the rosary is often not conducive to prayer and meditation on the mysteries, and it is better done as an individual devotion.
It's odd in a way that as society has become more sexually liberated, it's become more prudish about nakedness.
The norm has already changed. Until the mid-19th century, most men swam nude when outdoors and it only really stopped after an 1895 campaign to reintroduce mixed-bathing at the seaside (beaches were often split into mens and womens areas).
It's like the joke when the Ordinariate was founded that suddenly all these clergy would be praying the BCP for the first time, discovering that they actually had a Patrimony.
I do wish people would stop saying ‘evangelical’ when they mean ‘HTB’. It's not as if this is directed against All Souls’, Langham Pl. They're two very different groups: they don't sing the same songs, join the same networks, attend the same conferences, etc.
For somewhere where it rains 200 days a year and snows on another 20, I do admire the optimism of the Lake District's open-top buses.

I always laugh at the bit where he writes about being a teenager at school and making up stories about having girlfriends to impress his friends because that's a universal experience and sounds so modern
More than that, when we understand how we are meant to pray the imprecatory psalms we learn how we should pray the rest of the psalter too.
Should Christians pray imprecatory psalms today?
Pensions *are* the spiraling cost of welfare! We cut disability benefit and stopped paying child benefit for third children all to keep throwing money down the pension black hole as the triple lock causes it to ever expand.
It would be wrong to scrap the pensions triple lock to cover the cost of spiralling welfare. Pensioners on fixed incomes shouldn’t pay the price for a broken system.
