I find Luke 10:21a impossible to read without breaking into at least a smile. What a thing to eavesdrop on—the Son’s praise of the Father in the joy of the Spirit!! May we have humbled hearts to receive what is hidden from the wise and learned.
Dan mentions another aspect of Pascal’s Wager that’s often overlooked. “Betting on God” was not, for Pascal, about pretending to believe the creed. It was about living into an embodied, prayerful, Scripture-soaked community. True, you can’t fake a belief—but you can go to church.

If you begin with matter, you don't only lose God, you lose consciousness, rationality, morality, and free will — IOW you lose yourself.
