Just a couple of minor tweaks!
China has so much potential if they'd stop doing dumb shit like this, give locals and foreigners actually fair trials and stop messing with the market Also make the stock markets actually function because right now they're rigged too and you can't ACTUALLY benefit much from…

Affordable housing is the most expensive housing we build.
My favorite prompt for getting to the bottom of any nutritional ““science”” claim: “is this observational epidemiology, or is it actual science?”
Ice cream is already healthy (it's protective against type II diabetes, nobody knows why)
If you don’t know accounting, it – like most technical subjects that are unfamiliar – seems like a dark art that you could have maybe learned if you had studied it in college or worked in investment banking. In reality, you can get to 95th percentile by reading two books:
Almost two decades ago, I took Accounting 101. It taught basic stuff - debits and credits, the accounting equation, and how to read financial statements. That single class has had an outsized impact on my businesses. I highly recommend that all entrepreneurs learn accounting.
AWS has struggled thus far in terms of customer-facing AI, but I suspect there are few better positioned to use AI internally. The corpus of structured internal writing is incredible training data – PRFAQs, design documents, 6-pagers – & docs are actually used to drive products.

a16z cofounder @pmarca on President Nixon’s failed plan to scale nuclear energy in America: “He saw the energy crisis coming.” “ He said it's a national imperative to build a thousand new nuclear power plants.” “ The bad news is, he created the EPA and the Nuclear Regulatory…
“ChatGPT psychosis” is not real. When someone is having a psychotic break and is talking to their Bluetooth headset or TV, we don’t call it “Bluetooth psychosis” or “TV psychosis” – it’s just psychosis. Separately, some people are too dumb to spot AI slop; that’s just stupidity.
This is an important event: the first time AI-induced psychosis has affected a well-respected and high achieving individual. In this case, ChatGPT started spitting out SCP-style roleplay, and it seems like memory is playing a large part in ensuring the hallucination continues.
Reminds me of one of my favorite Munger quotes: "Most people have no hope of being improved by 'Poor Charlie's Almanack,' or anything else."
Charlie Munger: "I don't think you can just give good advice to the young and just have it automatically sprout like Jack's beanstalk. A lot of people are just natural non-sprouters." 🤣 "Warren puts it in a more pithy way. He says, 'We make silk purses out of silk.'"
This is a great idea. The big bet is that there are enough interesting use cases to cover. There probably are, but in any case, the compelling thing is that covering real-world use cases leads to more real-world use cases . I would have called it 'Existence Proofs.'
After 12+ years of publishing tactical company building playbooks on The Review, we’ve decided to start a brand-new publication, dedicated to AI actually working in production. We're calling it Applied Intelligence. The aim is to close a gap we’ve spotted: Everyone's talking…

There is an irony that Lina Khan’s activism has resulted in deals that are far worse for everyone except the people she was targeting.
This is accurate, in a way. If doctors were trained in nutrition, they’d know that research has shown that even w/intensive weekly counseling & supervised diet/exercise, mean weight loss settles at -5% of starting weight, so they’d prescribe GLP-1RAs and achieve 90% prevention.
If doctors were trained in nutrition, we could: -Prevent up to 90% of heart disease cases -Prevent up to 90% of type 2 diabetes cases -Save billions in healthcare costs through nutrition-focused interventions This isn’t theoretical. With the right education, it's achievable.
what did you think degrowth meant? vibes? papers? essays?
💨 Great article in @FT today urging Europe to stop restricting the installation and use of air conditioning If Europe continues its current course and keeps regulating against air conditioning, then heat-related deaths will soon reach over 500,000 per year Installing AC in…
“I too agree that we should have more innovators in this country, I just want to have a hard cap of $999m on returns” is a different way of saying “we should not have more innovators until we figure out how to reengineer human nature.”
I understand what Sheel and Garry are trying to say here--and I too agree that we should have more innovators / builders in this country. That said, the call for "no more billionaires" has much more to do with wealth inequality than suppressing innovators.
