The judgment of the @ECHR_CEDH is crystal clear: Russia is responsible for the downing of flight MH17 and for the deaths of everyone on board, including 196 Dutch nationals. This confirms what we have known and felt all along, and is an important step on the road to justice. 1/2

I congratulate the Georgian Young Lawyers Association @GYLA_CSO on winning the #OSCE Democracy Defender Award. They provide essential support to human rights activists and civil society organisations in #Georgia. We value our trusted and longstanding partnership. 1/2
This annual award is presented amid clear anti-democratic steps in Georgia. I urge the Georgian authorities to recall repressive legislation, cease the targeting of independent media, and ensure accountability for violence against protestors, journalists, and politicians. 2/2
The International Criminal Court is an important element of the international legal order. The Netherlands regrets that the Hungarian government has announced its withdrawal. As long as Hungary is a State Party, it is bound to its obligations under the Rome Statute.
On #TransDayOfVisibility we celebrate transgender & non-binary persons & raise awareness on the discrimination they face. Physical and verbal attacks are a frequent reality for many. LGBTIQ+ equality is a longstanding human rights priority for the NL & will remain so. @DutchMFA

Gave a speech about the cracks of light that #HumanRights defenders generate again and again during the Activist Night of the Movies that Matter Festival 2025: “hope is a discipline, and we have to practice it every single day”. @DutchMFA

I am concerned about continuing tensions in the West Bank, including an increase of settler violence. The attack against Palestinian filmmaker Hamdan Ballal and others is yet another example. I condemn this and call upon Israel to prevent and to prosecute such violence. 1/3
Joint statement with my European colleagues about new anti-LGBTIQ+ legislation in #Hungary. @DutchMFA @NLinHungary
