Important that the 18th EU sanctions package against Russia is now a fact. We are ramping up economic pressure with robust measures - targeting Russian oil revenues by lowering the price ceiling and cutting off more Russian banks from the international banking system. 1/2
Newly announced US tariffs on the EU are not the way forward. Businesses on both sides of the ocean need predictability and lower rather than higher tariffs. Full support to the Commission in continuing negotiations on behalf of the EU whilst keeping all options on the table.
The Netherlands and 40 other OSCE countries request an independent investigation into the torture and ill-treatment by Russia of Ukrainian prisoners of war. 1/2
Ukraine’s anti-corruption institutions are vital to its reform path. Restricting them would be a significant setback. Safeguarding the independence of these institutions and continued progress on the rule of law remain key for Ukraine’s EU accession process.
Seriously concerned over today’s vote in the Rada. The dismantling of key safeguards protecting NABU’s independence is a serious step back. Independent bodies like NABU & SAPO, are essential for 🇺🇦’s EU path. Rule of Law remains in the very center of EU accession negotiations.
The war in the Gaza Strip must end. I am making this urgent call together with other foreign ministers. It is imperative to keep up pressure on Israel to improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation and fully implement the EU-Israel humanitarian aid agreement. 1/3
The suffering of civilians in Gaza has reached new depths. Alongside 25 other partners, the UK message is clear: the war in Gaza must end now. We need an immediate ceasefire, release of all hostages and a full resumption of aid. gov.uk/government/new…
In the eleven years since the downing of flight MH17, our European partners have stood firmly by our side. The Netherlands greatly values the unwavering support for our efforts for truth, justice and accountability for all victims and their loved ones. eeas.europa.eu/delegations/uk…
On 17 July, our thoughts are with the 298 victims of the downing of flight #MH17, including 196 🇳🇱 nationals, and their loved ones. The recent @ECHR_CEDH judgment and @icao decision confirm Russia’s responsibility. We remain committed to achieving truth, justice & accountability.

'Even if they can never forget, they deserve peace.' Eleven years after the downing of flight MH17, this remains as true as ever for the loved ones of the victims. Today, I pause to commemorate all 298 people who lost their lives, including 196 Dutch citizens. 1/2
Today @MinisterBZ spoke at the commemoration of the genocide in Srebrenica, 30 years ago, held in Potočari. ‘’By building the future together, we honour all the victims of the genocide, we honour the survivors.’’
“By building the future together, we honour all the victims of the genocide, we honour the survivors.” Today I spoke in Potočari at the impressive commemoration of the genocide in Srebrenica, 30 years ago this year. 1/4
Ukraine’s cultural heritage has been hit hard by the war. Since 2023, NL has supported protection. In Rome, we reaffirmed our commitment: · €1 million for the Ukraine Heritage Fund · Continued support to key Ukrainian institutions · Endorsing the Ukraine Resilience Alliance

The Netherlands was pleased to host a delegation from Southeast Asia (#ASEAN) yesterday as part of their diplomatic training at @Clingendaelorg. We discussed topics such as Cyber and Law of the Sea. As Development Partner to ASEAN, we are committed to strengthening cooperation.

Russia isn't just trying to bring Ukraine to its knees on the battle field. For 3,5 years, it has been attempting to destroy Ukraine's society and economy. Today, I announced €300 million on behalf of the Netherlands for reconstruction and economic recovery in 2025 and 2026. 1/2
In 2020 the Netherlands submitted an inter-State application to the @ECHR_CEDH regarding Russia’s responsibility for the downing of flight MH17 and the deaths of everyone on board, including 196 Dutch nationals. The Court ruled in the Netherlands’ favour: government.nl/latest/news/20…
The judgment of the @ECHR_CEDH is crystal clear: Russia is responsible for the downing of flight MH17 and for the deaths of everyone on board, including 196 Dutch nationals. This confirms what we have known and felt all along, and is an important step on the road to justice. 1/2
Russia increasingly uses chemical weapons against Ukrainian soldiers. A horrific way of conducting war and also a dangerous development which threatens to lower the threshold to use these types of weapons. That is unacceptable. 1/2
A pleasure to welcome our dear friend @RetnoLPMarsudi to @DutchMFA in The Hague. I welcomed her leadership and strong efforts as the first @UN Special Envoy on Water. Looking forward to continuing our close cooperation in the run-up to the 2026 UN Water Conference.
