Overnight, 1000s of Bedouin fighters from across Syria mobilized toward Sweida after reported attacks by Hikmat al-Hijri’s militias on Bedouin civilians. Fueled by sectarian rhetoric, the risk of full-scale communal violence is rapidly escalating.
Sweida remains highly volatile despite a fragile ceasefire yesterday, and after 5 days of violence marked by executions, looting, and abuse. Both Druze and Bedouin civilians have suffered. The full scope of the harm is only beginning to come to light.
