"yey sexy car adverts are back" clapping like a seal. Embarrassing.
American Eagle shares have gained 10% today (adding $200 million of market cap) after unveiling a new ad campaign fronted by Sydney Sweeney. Based ad campaigns are back, and wokery is gasping for breath. Take note Jaguar.
Major new study finds that 4-day workweek (with no reduction in pay) leads to: --> higher productivity --> more revenue --> Less stress, fewer feelings of burnout, and improved overall health and well-being.
Every time you ask ChatGPT to proofread your email you quietly borrow from the labour of millions. In this sense, cultural production has already become a planetary co-operative. Updating its funding mechanism accordingly is necessary: it is time to socialise AI’s inputs. Read…
Art is a public good and should be treated as such - which means material support from public funds. More spaces, more grants for projects, more technical resources and some form of basic income for all. The "creative industries" have ultimately failed.
Generative AI runs on a paradox: it relies on content creators - artists, journalists and coders - whose work trains its models while eroding their incomes. The fix is to treat creative knowledge as a public good and fund it collectively. Read piece by @FaustoGernone and me ➡️…
Not a humanitarian catastrophe, but a genocide, committed by *your* ally Israel with *your* support for 21 months. And you clearly won’t pull every lever: RAF planes are still flying over Gaza, parts are flowing for Israel’s F35 bombers, Israeli officials still come freely to UK.
The appalling scenes in Gaza are unrelenting. The UK will pull every lever we have to get food and lifesaving support to Palestinians, and we will evacuate children who need urgent medical assistance. This humanitarian catastrophe must end.
After the first UK council to trial a four-day has adopted it permanently, there is now a huge opportunity to get the next wave of council trials underway. Get in touch with us at [email protected] if your council is interested in joining the next wave theguardian.com/business/2025/…

The Employment Rights Bill is not yet law — and there is still time for the Government to make a decisive move to upgrade the UK’s climate resilience and protect millions of workers. tribunemag.co.uk/2025/07/extrem…
UK welfare spending is 10.6% of GDP. Right wing press never mentions that it is well below the OECD average. UK has some of the least generous welfare across OECD. No questions asked about corporate welfare, uncosted tax reliefs to corporations/rich. gov.uk/government/pub…
This is cool - the data team at the @Autonomy_Inst have created a curated dataset of 10-k filings on AI risk, to show what the biggest firms are saying about the threat AI poses to their models. Check it out: adu.autonomy.work/posts/2025_05_…

Enjoying this book by @leifweatherby. "the Q of intelligence has always seemed rather more absurd in images than in language, perhaps because it is simply more intuitive to imagine a mechanical procedure that arrives at the image than one that generates the unicorn story."

This week's live Forum 2029 event was excellent and we were privileged to have a fantastic panel. The full video will be uploaded soon. Here is Prof. @jemgilbert making a definitive case for more democracy and basic nationalisation, for which there is mass support.
Really excellent work here from Sean Greaves in our Data Unit. 75% of S&P 500 firms have reported new risks emerging from the generative AI boom to their business models. Lots more in the report besides...
