I really value xiao & @BryceJohanneck's insight as engineers On Here, but wish they'd add more of their perspective on how we can meet challenges like location-specific VPP integration. We already know this is new territory! We're all looking to map it together.
And the state of technology for VPPs as of now precludes very granular locational usage so there needs to be some major improvement on that end for it to be not useless for specific constraint management
IMO, SPP's proposal and Texas' SB 6 mark the end of one Big Assumption about the data center age: 99.999% uptime as necessity for large loads. Kudos to @tylerhnorris for kicking this convo off & worth thinking a/b how we can more carefully evaluate assumptions in future.

We're just at the tip of the iceberg on the impact of the end of the ITC/PTC for solar, wind, and (effectively) storage. Every utility plan in the country is now out-of-date. And, with gas turbines/supply at a premium & demand increasing, these plans will look different.
