The appalling scenes in Gaza are unrelenting. The UK will pull every lever we have to get food and lifesaving support to Palestinians, and we will evacuate children who need urgent medical assistance. This humanitarian catastrophe must end.
The suffering and starvation unfolding in Gaza is unspeakable and indefensible.

Britain's Foreign Secretary has just delivered a critical speech on diplomacy and foreign policy in a new AI era. This is a first of its kind for Westminster. It's a must-read for foreign policy/defence/AI folk. Here's a short 🧵on what David Lammy said just now in Singapore.
"We've heard that Whitehall needs people who are fluent in technology, like AI...as well experts in Chinese..." Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee @EmilyThornberry raises our work on the need for AI and emerging tech literacy to be combined with China expertise.
🚨 Oxford China Policy Lab is pleased to say the @CommonsForeign has published our evidence on the UK-China Audit. We focused on the need for "integrated China-AI expertise across government", among other key recommendations.
A Guardian columnist argues that widespread air-conditioning is 'philosophically problematic' because 'the screaming urgency to tackle the collective issue of a world on fire can recede slightly.' She has an AC unit herself, of course.
