Labour GAIN Worthing West from the Conservatives 🌹
As we reach the end of term, I wrote to all the Year 6 children in Worthing West to wish them happiness and success in the next exciting chapter of schooling 🎓 I hope you have a brilliant summer with some time to relax. You deserve it!🏆

Thank you, Health Secretary @wesstreeting, for reaching out today and for your support for @WHO colleagues in #Gaza and our lifesaving work. We need Member States’ help to ensure we can access health facilities and deliver health aid.
I welcome the news that the UK and 28 international partners have given a joint statement that “the war in Gaza must end now." I remain angered and horrified by the continuation of so much appalling human suffering and you can read the full text here: gov.uk/government/new…

I was shocked to hear that the CEO of Southern Water has been offered a staggering £691,200 ‘incentive’, on top of his £687,000 salary. I've joined 20 Labour MPs from constituencies 'served' by SW urging Mr Gosden not to accept this outrageous incentive for failure.

Exclusive: Twenty MPs have accused Southern Water CEO of ‘pure greed’ and urged him to refuse a pay hike that would take his salary to £1.4m “Decline this disgraceful payment for failure”.
A completely new water regulator is great news, with oversight of environmental, drinking water, and consumer issues. Ofwat has failed customers for too long. Today’s Independent Water Commission report and the coming Water Reform Bill will finally give us the powers we need.

It is great to see Worthing being part of the green energy transition and much- needed reduction in the use of fossil fuels 🌍 But we need to make sure that our coastal communities and Sussex Bay environment remain central to the conversation as we look ahead to Rampion II🌊
Gambling harm is a serious public health issue and should be addressed in the same way as other addictive products I asked the Secretary of State if he agreed that addressing gambling addiction should be led by the Dept of Health rather than the Dept for Culture, Media & Sport
A quick reminder that there's still time to register ✅

I support my colleagues who are pressing for a new Gambling Act. Our laws are outdated and leave people exposed to harm. @BeccyCooper4Lab @andrewpakes_ @AlexBallingerMP

📣 Brilliant news that the voting age is being lowered to 16 for the next general election! As promised in our manifesto, around 1.5 million 16 and 17-year-olds will get the chance to have their say and shape their future 🗳💬 #VotesAt16 #YoungVoices #HaveYourSay

Really good morning out and about on Ringmer Road in Castle Ward talking to local residents. Issues included problems with the junction of Castle Road and Ringmer Road, paternity leave, and immigration.
Great to visit Parkinson’s UK Worthing Group recently, with @tomrutland MP. With over 370 members they are one of the largest support groups in the UK, providing therapeutic activities like art, dance, singing and speech classes, along with a wide range of other services 💚

The Secretary of State for Health, Wes Streeting, was in front of the Health Select Committee yesterday to discuss our 10 year health plan. I asked him about the shift from sickness to prevention🌈 See my Facebook page or for the full session: parliamentlive.tv/Event/Index/ae…

As part of Labour's Workers' Rights Bill, parents will be given the right to bereavement leave after suffering a miscarriage. I’m glad the govt have recognised the devastation caused by miscarriage and that parents will be given essential time and space to grieve.

Really enjoyed the fantastic #CareForVeterans Summer Fayre today. This amazing charity provides residential care and community activities for up to 60 veterans. Inspiring to see the wonderful work being done on behalf of those who have served our country🎖️

This week I signed the Srebrenica book of Remembrance. Globally, there continue to be horrendous acts of hatred and intolerance, most urgently in Gaza, Ukraine, Sudan and Syria. We must meet this hatred with a strength of purpose that shows the very best of our humanity💚
