Tbc there are fossil interests fighting to kill credits, esp refiners who opposed EV credits. But NAM, USCC flatly opposed repeal and API focused on keeping what they like (hydrogen). Cuts are bc Trump negatively polarized against everything Biden-coded and hawks demanded flesh.
Culture wars plus real money towards fiscal hawk goals. ~1/3 of the spending cuts in the bill come from slashing IRA credits.
I met with Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian student at Columbia University, who was imprisoned for 104 days by the Trump administration for opposing Netanyahu’s illegal & horrific war in Gaza. Outrageous. We must not allow Trump to destroy the First Amendment & freedom to dissent.
Today, a war criminal under indictment from the ICC will be welcomed to the White House. Trump, like Biden before him, has aided and abetted the extremist Netanyahu government as it has systematically killed and starved civilians in Gaza. It is a shameful day in America.
There are already two parties for billionaires. We don’t need a third. If you want a party for working people, join the Working Families Party: wfpus.org/JoinUs
This is the stupidest day in American history, a record that will be broken by every subsequent day in American history.

If Republicans had followed Steve Bannon’s advice about allowing the tax rate for the top 1% return from 37% to 39.6%, they could have reduced the Medicaid cuts in the bill roughly in half
Sounds to me like Vought is promising to sabotage what little remains of clean energy credits through administrative means. @JesseJenkins
Here's an update from Rep. CHIP ROY about what the heck the holdouts are talking about as the House is at a standstill “We're actually going through to understand the text so we can understand what is possible through either legislative changes or through executive action and…
UAW Statement on the Republicans’ Anti-Worker Budget Reconciliation Bill Senate Republicans’ budget reconciliation bill is a gut punch to working people. Behind a smokescreen of small, short-term gains, this bill inflicts deep, lasting harm. It’s a gift to billionaires and…
It’s insane that a revolving door of Democrats are going on television to denounce Mamdani while Republicans shepherd through the most destructive piece of legislation in recent memory.
ohhhhh i get this bill now. you gotta give poor people LESS money to incentivize them to work hard, but you gotta give billionaires MORE money to incentivize them to work hard
Now isn’t this a good idea?? #MedicareForAll would provide comprehensive universal health care to everyone! Republicans want to use “current policy” baseline to kick 16 million Americans off of any healthcare they have right now. That’s the difference.
If “current policy” becomes the norm in reconciliation, one (very) hypothetical example of how Democrats could wield it: Pass a $10 trillion Medicare For All bill for 1 yr at a $1T sticker price & extend it permanently the next year at a $0 cost. All without nuking the filibuster
No predictive model could foresee this degree of national self-sabotage – an act of willful decline that transcends political theory.
A new analysis from @BGAlliance found that the clean manufacturing tax credits at risk of repeal in the current House budget bill puts over 2 million American jobs at risk, leaving manufacturing employment growth in certain states uncertain. Read more: bluegreenalliance.org/site/research-…
More of the new US climate denialism. Fossil fuel devotee Alex Epstein calls wind and solar jobs "fentanyl" jobs, and Texas Governor Greg Abbott tweets about his grid's resilience without mentioning the batteries that saved it. @tylerhnorris calls it VRE derangement syndrome.
my rabbi @bradlander has been doing coalition building with the 'no pork caucus' for a long time
