helping SaaS founders get to $1MM+ ARR; building a cabin in the woods for fun; former I-banker+NGO founder in Beijing; fluent 🇨🇳conversational🇹🇭🇫🇷🇬🇷
So wild that only 4% of SaaS startups ever reach $1M ARR and of those the median time from first paying customer (not company formation or product launch!) is 2 years and 9 months This can be done so much faster if you know what you’re doing though - fastest decile is 9 mo! 🧠

If you’re sleeping on this your job is way way harder than it needs to be 😂😅
FYI, I'm good at Excel
Your timeline is broken, full of manufactured panic and rage bait. I’m going to heal it by pumping it full of birdsong, bees, and bough-dappled light. Gonna fix you up real quick.

Really not looking forward to the world where Grok agent embedded on Neuralink has continuous Starlink service
"Starlink Satellites will be able to broadcast direct to your mobiles. There will be no deadzone anywhere in the world for your cell phone. Your phone will still work even if there are no cell towers." Starlink will save lives. ❤️
*bubble - in this context isn't something that's going to "burst". bubble means we (techs, devs, ai bros) are not aware of users outside of our own tech/ai bubble. I think it's important to make that distinction.

Where’s the models and bottles meme guy when you need him?
Just found out the “finance girl in private equity” works in client relations. Like saying you’re the QB when you’re the water boy
People would feel a lot better on their startup journey (read: any new adventure or project) if they just realized it is all simply a slow motion Dunning-Kruger effect
Which step are you in?
Chinese people are fun. She asks if he’s Jack ma and he says yeah. then she remarks that night time is a great time to go bike riding, Jack agrees that it’s quite cool and comfy at night. She suggests that you can ride for a long time in this weather and he says sure, then kind…
Jack Ma was spotted riding his bicycle bicycle in Hangzhou. Although he has retained his position as CEO, his story reminds me of China's Last Emperor, who was pardoned after the revolution (despite collaborating with the Japanese) and became a simple gardener.
He owns a water company called Nongfu Springs, famous in 2013 for a scandal when it was discovered they were simply using unfiltered tap water that included heavy metals and ecoli lol
BREAKING - Chinese national and one of China’s richest men, Zhong Shanshan, has secretly bought $67 million worth of New Hampshire land, four times its assessed value, tied directly to the state’s water supply.
There’s going to be such an explosion of solopreneurs in the next 5 years. The commercialization AI resources need some work but that will come next
The real insight: 99% of the world's best ideas are trapped in the heads of people who can't code. They have problems. They know the solutions. They just can't build them. AI shouldn't help engineers code faster. It should help everyone else build.
"AI will eat SaaS" IMO, no, it will eat Services which is 25X larger. the prize isn’t the familiar $200B SaaS pool; it’s the $4.6T enterprises pour each year into salaries and outsourced services – the very labor-intelligent agents are now poised to absorb.
What everyone who says Chinese industry is doing amazing stuff and their prices are 20-40% lower than everyone forgets is Chinese firms don't make money. Making money is not the priority. This is why the stock market is flat for the century, they are wildly overbuilt, and have an…

During travel season, I always reflect on how much the experience of travel has changed in the last 20 years. The greatest annoyance 25 years ago was finding the cool stuff. It was so difficult to know what was great and what was trash, and you had to chance it, risk it, ask…
We have strayed too far from God.
idk who needs to hear this, but please do not microwave potatoes in plastic
Im loving this roller coaster ride and experiencing something similar with the PMF tracker I’m building in Replit But Saturdays are always sacred for me for the same reason - if I don’t totally detach and behave like a human for 24 hours I start to lose my sanity lol
FLASH UPDATE: I couldn't help myself and cheated and checked in before our 10am team meeting And lo and behold, the new dashboard ROCKS! Just Like That ... I'm Back!!
Valuable interview advice for any startup founder
During the Solomon Islands campaign, a Marine on night sentry duty heard someone approaching in the jungle and fired a few bursts from his machine gun. A voice called out: "Hold up your fire! We are Americans. I am bringing in my platoon." The Marine responded by blasting away…
Very cool and much appreciated ALSO This is why startups exist - if the idea of hammering against corporate politics for 2 years to get an obvious feature shipped sounds like a fate worse than death… You belong at a startup
Very underrated vibe shift underway… it will change everything
the amount of founders is going to 10x in the next 10 years it’s the perfect storm of - white collar jobs getting decimated due AI - non-tech people can ship ideas now - starting a company feels safer than staying employed - people are EATING up entrepreneurship content (vids…
Unless you are already rich, Your own startup should be the best investment you’ll ever make — if it’s worth anything at all. Let other stuff go. Just put your cash into VTI/VOO. Take that one extra meeting. Push on to find that better CTO. Go visit that customer IRL. Stay.
