🚨Let's treat childcare like infrastructure. In a new report written with the brilliant @ManduReid , I am calling for Universal Free Childcare to be moved forward as serious policy. This is a big vision and I hope others will come to share it. mirror.co.uk/news/politics/…
🌍 Today is #EarthOvershootDay, 8 days earlier than last year. 😱 This means that we have already used up 1 year's worth of resources, and the rest of the year will be tapping into future resources. 💪 We need climate action now.
Absurd gimmick. Stopping asylum seekers from working pushes people into destitution and forces reliance on meagre welfare payments. Time for a common-sense change to law to allow asylum seekers to work - to support themselves and contribute to the economy telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/07/2…
NEW ‼️@carla_denyer, @AdrianRamsay, @EllieChowns & @sianberry sign cross party letter calling for @Keir_Starmer and @GOVUK to recognise Palestine as a state.
221 MPs, from 9 parties, have sent a joint letter to the Prime Minister & Foreign Secretary urging them to recognise Palestine as a state now
Big problems need bold collaboration and vision. @sianberry MP and I have released ‘All Our Children’ a new report calling for universal free early years provision. Childcare is essential infrastructure. It’s time we treated it that way. mirror.co.uk/news/politics/… 1/2
🚨 Local councils are acting like loan sharks. And private bailiff companies are lining their pockets at our expense. But we have the chance to change this! The government is consulting on how council tax debt is collected - and if enough of us respond then we can’t be ignored!
France putting our Government to absolute shame.
Consistent with its historic commitment to a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, I have decided that France will recognize the State of Palestine. I will make this solemn announcement before the United Nations General Assembly this coming September.…
I received hundreds of emails from those affected or fearing #UniversalCredit cuts, collective testament to the fact that disabled people are not feeling, as Sir Keir Starmer said he wanted, "secure and supported", but the opposite nataliebennett.org/latest/my-regr…
Opened my emails this morning to news of the second tragic death on Tower Hamlets' roads in a week. My heart goes out to the friends and families of those affected. With @CarolineRussell and @CityHallGreens this morning we discussed plans for Vision Zero Road Deaths
"Whether you have children, or you don’t, childcare is something that every person in society benefits from." @sianberry calls on the government to deliver universal free childcare to help struggling parents with @ManduReid
✍️New column! The Government has declared 2026 the National Year of Reading, but in Brighton three of our libraries are now up for closure. This potentially devastating community loss shows that even though a new Govt is in place, austerity lingers on... theargus.co.uk/news/25324861.…
From today, Govt only has 100 days to publish a new climate plan, a task made infinitely more difficult by its own approval of rampant airport expansion. How credible can any climate plan possibly be with a third runway at Heathrow and the most expensive train tickets in Europe?
