🌍 Today is #EarthOvershootDay, 8 days earlier than last year. 😱 This means that we have already used up 1 year's worth of resources, and the rest of the year will be tapping into future resources. 💪 We need climate action now.

BREAKING 🚨 The ICJ has ruled that government actions driving climate change are ILLEGAL. States are legally bound to reduce emissions and compensate vulnerable nations. Climate Change is an “Existential Threat of Planetary Proportions” This is huge. Will the world wake up?

👏Countries now have a legal obligation to protect the planet: this is what the International Court of Justice decided yesterday. It confirmed what we already knew: failure to protect the planet from greenhouse gas emissions (& fossil fuel) is an international wrongful act.

That International Court of Justice decision on Climate Change is a big deal. In summary the UN requested ICJ to state obligations of States to protect climate, and legal consequences for causing harm. (🧵1of3)

The horrors in Gaza are unbearable. Yesterday, 28 countries demanded an end to Israel’s mass killing & starvation, yet some EU member states remain silent. Their complicity is shameful, as is that of the EU institutions. Where is @kajakallas? We must act to stop Israel, now.

What can we do about the housing crisis? 🏠Invest in affordable housing to lower rents ⚡️Renovate homes to lower energy bills 🚃Improve public transport to make commuting more affordable (and living outside of big cities more practical!)

Border checks are back within the EU. Under the guise of “security,” they are burdening border regions & disregarding EU law. This isn’t about safety. It’s about fear. Free movement is the EU’s & Schengen’s strength.
