When I was elected @unitetheunion GS, I promised to uncover the truth about allegations of historical corruption, particularly in relation to the Birmingham Hotel and Conference Centre. I can now provide information from the independent inquiries I commissioned, through this…
Our Chair, @HelenHayes_, asked Prime Minister @Keir_Starmer about the support available for care leavers after the age of 18 during the @CommonsLiaison session. Watch his response 👇
Good riddance. Gove’s 🪓man commissioner Max Caller asset stripped @bhamcitycouncil, slashed public services & imposed austerity 2.0 on Brum. He ignored alternatives to cuts & slagged off critics as ‘financially illiterate’. @UKLabour backed him. birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-…
The case for prevention is clear, but the path to preventative services and supports is not straightforward. It is difficult to invest in better long-term outcomes, when short term savings need to be made and immediate needs for care and support have to be met. #CareCantWait
Disgusting racist cartoon about @zarahsultana
Brownfacing a box of raisins and mocking my surname. Exactly what you’d expect from a right-wing hack who is the daughter of an aristocrat and ex-Tory MP.
Not a good look for the unelected lead commissioner, Max Caller. The city is being held to ransom by one man, who isn’t held accountable and will simply walk away into the sunset once he thinks his ‘job is done’. birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-…
A significant element of this story is about nepotism, cronyism and corruption, with friends, family and employees of @UKLabour MPs being parachuted into @BrumLabour held seats, while incumbents are arbitrarily removed without right to appeal. @skwawkbox birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-…
From 1949 to 1976 the @HumanRightsCtte inquiry estimated that 185,000 mothers had their children forcibly adopted because they had a child outside marriage. They recommended the state should apologise, and both Tory and Labour Governments have refused. committees.parliament.uk/publications/2…
There is no water shortage in the UK. Just a shortage of water management. They want the public to be responsible for managing water rather than doing the job they are very well paid to do.
Since the privatisation of water, not a single English reservoir has been built. Indeed, since privatisation 25 of them have been sold-off for shareholder profit. You couldn’t make this stuff up.

Both of these are what #socialcare does, so it’s a little frustrating that there are only 17 mentions of it in the 168 page document. Surely there should be more about how the services will work together? But the health plan was always going to be an NHS plan so it’s no surprise.
‘Careless Care’ @PrivateEyeNews on Childrens ‘Supported Living’..

The @CommonsEd report on children’s social care is out today, with recommendations around a range of issues, including foster care, kinship care, children’s homes, out of area placements and regional care cooperatives committees.parliament.uk/publications/4…
I am so sorry. I voted against, but the Bill passed. I promise I will keep going because sick and disabled people don't deserve this shabby treatment.
Today MPs will vote on proposals to cut £2 billion from support for sick and disabled people. 750,000 low-income sick and disabled people would lose £3,000 a year. We must not balance the books on the backs of the poor and disabled. I will vote against these plans.
Today, the UC & PIP Bill returns to the House of Commons for the third reading. I’ve made my opposition to this legislation being railroaded through clear from the outset. Continues 👇🏻
I voted against the UC&PIP Bill. It's now due back for next stage in Parliament. My next Amendment 👇would safeguard those with fluctuating conditions, or a recurrence of a condition from being placed onto a lower rate of universal credit #York #UC #PIP
Even after two U-turns the welfare bill remains a vicious and damaging set of proposals, just as the charities say. It should still be opposed. theguardian.com/society/2025/j…
