The residential freehold-leasehold system in🏴🏴must be replaced by commonhold
💯
I'm afraid John Lyons charity, possibly the least offensive claimant here, is being used by the wider group in this way. They're like the teddybear pinned to the front of a Mad Max truck
The positive spin @uklabour @CMAgovUK have put on this outrageous market abuse makes me want to🤮 Housebuilder mafia caught red handed in a conspiracy to rig their market No jail, no fine, no admission of wrong doing but pays 9 figures “for the problem to go away” Dodgy af
In the height of the leaseholder scandal, housebuilders weren't only price fixing. They were sharing dodgy solicitors and business models to trap innocent buyers. Some of their cronies are in court next week claiming their offshore SPVs have human rights. This country is fucked.
‘Shared ownership’ in 🏴🏴means the equity partner shares any gains while the resident leaseholder is liable for 100% of the costs and risks The equity partner gets the gains The resident gets the bills If you’re in shared ownership and want out DM me I might be able to help
The leaseholders, who live in a block of shared ownership flats..built in 2008, were told in 2012 service charges would rise to include 24-hour concierge& maintenance of the communal garden used by the luxury blocks next door, which they could not access. mylondon.news/news/south-lon…
Big Freehold’s judicial review of the Leasehold and Freehold Reform Act 2024, sanctified by the King’s Royal Assent, is a brazenly self-serving stunt that mocks Parliament’s authority and the democratic process. With shameless greed, they’re waging war on the rights of 5.3mn…
📢 EXCLUSIVE MATTHEW WRIGHT @LBC INTERVIEW Toxic elites don’t need coups in this country. They can take back power through the judiciary. Having lost in elections and lost with Parliament, Big Freeholders now use lawfare! @UKLabour must hold firm and end leasehold for good.
Oh look another housing related scam!
Data obtained by the BBC revealed heat network residents in London have been paying nearly 30% more than the Ofgem price cap rate ➡️ bbc.in/40thKZS
If you’re a leaseholder in 🏴🏴and need an update how Big Freehold is waging war against the will of Parliament and your right to own your home - here it is. Brought to you by the excellent work of @HarryScoffin & @FreeLeasehlders

Big Freehold has declared war against the will of Parliament and the property rights of 5.3mn leaseholders in 🏴🏴 There are as many leaseholders under attack by Big Freehold as there are citizens of Ireland
The battle over leasehold reform is turning nasty. Freeholders with cashflow issues (due to declining book values reducing leverage opportunities) are turning to their imprisoned leaseholders and juicing them to the max. Using human rights laws to defend their right to do so.
Report from the front lines of the war Big Freehold is waging on the will of Parliament and 5.3mn leaseholders to keep their gravy train on the rails
🚨 BIG FREEHOLDERS JUDICIAL REVIEW LAWFARE: THE VERDICT 🚨 Rich vested interests judicial review trolling the government is an attack on the will of the people. The freeholder lobby have tried everything this week. Woke feudalism. Class war. Granny’s gonna get it.…
The scale of the smorgasbord of problems the freehold-leasehold system causes for leaseholders in 🏴🏴is vast. It's so big its hard for our monkey brains to hold onto but I found this helpful: There are 5.3mn leaseholders in🏴🏴If they stood in a line taking up 1 square metre…
Thinking of instructing @ConnellsEA or @PurplebricksUK to sell your home? Watch this first. bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episod…
God forbid you’re a leaseholder of a flat in a London block that burns down leaving you homeless. I hope you never have to rely on the goodwill and cooperation of an absentee freeholder, it’s property manager or insurance company to help put your life back together. When things…
❗@AngelaRayner @AlexJJNorris why are residents still waiting to find out how fire destroyed their east London block of flats?
Sums up so much of the quiet despair that so many in London are feeling now about this beautiful mess of a city
It's nearly the end of term, and I'm taking a more creative approach to this week's Substack - reflecting on why looking at the new housing in Stratford while stuck in a traffic jam makes me worry about the end of the world: peteapps.substack.com/p/a-traffic-ja…
Is the entire UK property industry on the scam?
Busted! What most of the industry have known for years finally gets exposed. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
Whilst we will always put the criminal investigation first, it is abhorrent to hear — yet again — that the government failed to do its basic due diligence. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
Leaseholders in England & Wales battle dodgy freeholders and property managers for years just to get basic services they’ve paid for: heating, water, sewage, gas, electricity, leak fixes. They get fobbed of because the property law lets it happen. Refuse to pay for undelivered…
ICYMI: Affordable #housing set to benefit from £100 million following CMA probe: gov.uk/government/new… This week, our Chief Executive spoke to @SkyNews about our latest action in the #housebuilding sector.
Damn straight, people are smart, markets are smart, leasehold is 🏴🏴is scam-housing, commonhold is the way
For me it is simple. The jig is up on leasehold. Why buy a home to have a landlord? End leasehold immediately and watch confidence soar.
I couldn’t agree more. Shared Ownership is a neither ‘shared’ or ‘ownership’ Resident pays 100% of service charge but has <100% of the lease. The equity partner gets a free ride Not ownership as its long leasehold and resident pays rent to the equity partner for the % of the…
Matt Lismore, 30, said he deeply regrets going with shared ownership to buy his first home, saying the system is 'broken' trib.al/7dfyR0j
Who’d have thought there is widespread institutional corruption in the UK house building industry? It’s almost like housing campaigners working for decades to spotlight its crimes were right all along. Plenty of more work to do @mhclg @AngelaRayner @mtpennycook

This is a stark reminder to the government that leaseholders do not want to be financial captives of freeholders. We need to be in the driving seat of our homes, just like flat-owners already are around the world under commonhold-style systems. thetimes.com/life-style/pro…
We finally know the human cost of govt foot-dragging on leasehold: 🚸 43% had family planning impacted 💰 68% struggling to sell their properties 🏠 73% of 18-34 year olds unable to upsize There's one answer: listen to @FreeLeasehlders and act quickly ⤵️ thetimes.com/life-style/pro…
