They were also warned of “regulatory risk” when investing. Literally the risk that regulation / legal changes reduce the return you can generate from the investment.
No "institutional investor" or "asset manager" bought into onerous ground rents without calculating the risk involved. They probably enjoyed the thrill of thinking they were "getting one over" on their fellow humans. They deserve to lose.

Any chance of @lbbdcouncil getting on top of the bins. Only been asking for you to resolve this basic issue for 2 years. No rush, whenever you’re ready. You see how they’re bursting open at the back, that’s a clue that it probably isn’t the residents being lazy.
Another way that @lbbdcouncil rip off residents in affordable housing - their wholly owned energy company that leaseholders and renters are forced to use - BD Energy, on a rip off heat network. Poor decisions on housing policy dating back over a decade in Barking and Dagenham…
£60k a year for gardening, provided by @lbbdcouncil and this is the state of it. They’ve been twice and all the plants are dying. £30k a visit.

There is no way forward other than to end leasehold. The tenure ruins lives and acts as a barrier to density. Ending leasehold will be vital for hitting the new homes targets.
