Our new edition of Whitaker's Disputation contains many scholarly annotations intended to help the reader understand various terms and concepts. Here is one such example regarding Whitaker's distinct use of the word "authentic".
Whitaker was ahead of the curve on many scholarly points against Bellarmine. Here is our annotation for Whitaker's doubts on the authenticity of an Ignatian epistle that Bellarmine cited.
In the Disputation, Whitaker cites dozens of his near contemporaries in Rome—many of them in support of his arguments! We have added footnotes in our new edition to aid the reader on these points. See two such examples here.
