Just a note here that I continue to write essays on all manner of topics on my own website. Link in bio.

I don't normally say this, but this is so obviously true in light of real unemployment numbers that anyone who argues otherwise would have to be an interested party. Which is in fact the case here.
Doug Ford’s plan to issue provincial work permits to asylum seekers is a huge mistake that must be stopped. torontosun.com/opinion/column…
Canada's edge has not been boring competence for quite some time--indeed, it has not had an edge for that same duration. It is remarkable how much of Canadian liberal centrism simply amounts to endorsing a status quo that no longer exists.
Most Canadian conservative social media messages sound like they were ghostwritten by U.S. Republicans — rage over substance, outrage over outcomes. Canada’s edge is boring competence. Import their chaos, and you import their decline.
Between Epstein and Russiagate, it’s a banner month for conspiracy theories. These are frowned upon, but the problem with such theories isn’t necessarily that they’re wrong (though they often are), but that they fail to understand the real place of conspiracies in political life.
Imagine seeing this and thinking you were going to watch Barbarella or something, and then getting completely traumatized about 45 minutes into Alien
Sigourney Weaver photographed with a Honda motorcycle in front of Centre Pompidou in a promo shoot for 'Alien' (1979).
There is a real "assume a can opener" quality to political commentary when it comes to this conflict
Here's the truth. Trump, Biden, Netanyahu have all failed that region terribly. Thousands died. We need a new generation of leadership that can pave the way for a non Hamas Palestinian state living in peace with a secure Israel.
A magnificent example of the European culture we're told doesn't exist. Touches my heart every single time.

I use dictation on the iPhone notes app, and its inability to get the words right invariably leads to me cursing, which it does in fact correctly transcribe, such that a neutral reader who happened to come across my notes might well conclude that I was suffering from Tourette's.
There is no political left anymore, just social media fights -- a recurring series. See also: there is no political right anymore, just podcasters on lord knows what cocktail of pharmaceuticals

"The eclipse of the Western genre in the popular imagination has less to do with its intrinsic violence and more with the fact that its particular mode of violence no longer engages that imagination as it once did." @polanskydj hedgehogreview.com/web-features/t…
This is probably the ultimate state of BDSM, in which the masochist begs to be hurt and the sadist says nah
I’m not making a judgment either way, but I read the reddit BDSM sub for an article a while back and it was surprising how many women were begging their boyfriends/husbands to be doms and the men were just very not into it

Good thread
With Terry Bollea's (Hulk Hogan's) death yesterday, it's a good time to look back at the biggest thing I was ever involved in. For over 3 years, I spent more than half of my worktime on one case-- Bollea v. Gawker. It was Charles Harder's case-- I handled "the appeal side".
