You may now also find me in the Other Place, which admittedly does seem excruciatingly Nice.
Quite into people leaving propitiatory offerings or defixiones at the Marx Heroön.
Taken with the Chinese student letters at Marx’s grave. There are a few.
You can (and should) read de Waal's piece from May on starvation in Gaza at the @LRB: lrb.co.uk/blog/2025/may/…
"There is no case since WW2 of starvation that has been so minutely designed and controlled" Famine expert Alex de Waal on Israel deliberately starving an entire civilian population
It is worth noting that, for some time, every production at Covent Garden was preceded by the Ukrainian national anthem.
After almost two years of genocide, the Palestinian flag is finally displayed on the stage of the Royal Ballet & Opera. It is deeply symbolic & shameful that Oliver Mears then attempts to forcibly remove it. This brave performer is showing us what the sector can & should be.
I don't believe the British government is doing anything like enough to try to end this, I don't believe it wants to, and its failure to do so is a grave moral crime.
UNRWA has enough food for the entire population of #Gaza for over three months stockpiled in warehouses–including this one in Al Arish, Egypt–awaiting entry. The supplies are available. The systems are in place. Open the gates, lift the siege, allow UNRWA to do its work and…
Wretched, subhuman take. In five pages of Plato your entire life can be upended, your soul turned toward the Good that lies beyond your grasp but always draws you onward. In five pages of Marx you can become conscious of the movement of history. Read real fucking books.
Spending an hour asking ChatGPT about Adam Smith generally teaches you 3x as much as spending an hour reading Wealth of Nations. The undergrads are using AI because it's just a better, more efficient way to learn things
In his heart, Big Charlie is clearly an Henry Corbin-style perennialist and Traditionalist. He's not even particularly subtle about it. His answer to this question might be that it's a category error (his other answer might be 'yes').
Has Charles converted to Islam?
Damn, @DSG_DSG really were right all those years when they called him 'too big to fail'.
Do some plagiarism, write some error-strewn books, pivot your personal brand to a continent where your public disgrace is little known and start charging upwards of $30,000 to do a YouTube interview:
2 questions for journalists to ask Starmer or Rayner: 1. Did you actually listen to @HackneyAbbott's interview before you suspended her? 2. What, specifically and quoting her directly, do you object to in her characterisation of racism?
From the statement: “The Latin Patriarchate strongly condemns this tragedy and this targeting of innocent civilians and of a sacred place. However, this tragedy is not greater or more terrible than the many others that have befallen Gaza. Many other innocent civilians have also…
JUST IN: Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem issues new statement on today’s strike on Holy Family Catholic Church in Gaza, saying it “strongly condemns ... this targeting of innocent civilians & of a sacred place.” The Patriarchate says 3 people have now died & 9 are wounded. (1/2)
In November 2023 the IDF shot an 84-yearold Catholic & church musician, Elham Farah, outside Holy Family Parish. Her family heard her crying out all night. Elham was still alive in the morning, when the IDF ran over her with a tank. So yes, I think they intended to hit the parish
Palestinians aren’t “treated as human beings w rights but as objects. Gaza is a prison; it's become a giant cage. We help everyone, Christians & non-Christians alike. We try to truly be instruments of peace for all." Fr Romanelli, Pastor of Holy Family injured in today’s attack
Cardinal Pizzaballa: “What we know for sure is that a tank, the IDF says by mistake, but we are not sure about this, they hit the Church directly, the Church of the Holy Family, the Latin Church” Images of the only Catholic Church in Gaza before and after today’s attack.
Great, clear segment. I think it's instructive that Dale can't take issue with anything she actually said, so then moves to "what she seems to imply" -- except she doesn't, in fact, imply it at all.
I was on @IainDale's LBC show earlier speaking about @HackneyAbbott's suspension from the Labour Party. As you will hear, it is genuinely hard to understand exactly what she said that is counter factual, incorrect or offensive. I would love nothing more than to be informed.
