Five days ago, the NYT pushed an essentially baseless angle that Dems have an immigration brand crisis because of the 2020 primary; in it Neera argued a baseless rule that Dems have to embrace hardline restrictionism in order to “establish credibility” to pursue majority opinion.
Wow — New Gallup poll: —Trump approval on immigration: 35-62 —Record high approval of immigration (79-17 overall) —78% of people support a pathway to citizenship (+8 from 2024); only 38% support mass deportation (-9 from 2024) —30% want decrease in immigration (-25 from 2024)
I'm very excited to announce that @perrybaconjr will be joining the @newrepublic as a staff writer next month. Perry is one of the sharpest analysts of American politics out there, and we're thrilled to have him aboard!
Thrilled about my new role @newrepublic, joining Michael and his excellent team of writers and editors.

"This is the greatest risk for Mamdani: not that New York’s financial and political elite will defeat him, but that they’ll seduce him to their way of thinking, and slowly, by degrees, make him just another normal Democrat." currentaffairs.org/news/three-tra…
We've honestly crossed the meridian here. I'm no longer angry at how absurd the New York Times has become. I'm glad they're fully committing to the bit and forcing everyone with eyes to realize the truth about the New York Times.
"Mamdani momentum withered in the deserts of southern Arizona on Tuesday night." @jackhealyNYT on Adelita Grijalva's convincing win in Tucson against the upstarts who called for a new face and name to succeed Raul Grijalva in the House. nytimes.com/2025/07/15/us/…
Look, they know they're lying. They also know they'll get roasted for it here. They don't care. The point of this article is to associate Mamdani with a loss, just like all the "intifada" articles, so you can refer to it in the abstract and just hammer the lie. Propaganda 101.

.@ZohranKMamdani got an energetic and welcoming reception in DC this morning. Huge thanks to @AOC for organizing the breakfast. Proud of our Democratic nominee for NYC Mayor. Let’s win!
This is the angriest I’ve heard Obama in years and it’s over people not respecting an airport book.
The candidate endorsed by Bernie, AOC, and the WFP won. What kind of hack journalism is this?

“The Mamdani momentum withered in the deserts of southern Arizona on Tuesday night.” Absolutely fucking insane characterization of this race by the NYT. Adelita was THE progressive candidate in this race, supported by Bernie + AOC. nytimes.com/2025/07/15/us/…
Seems like obfuscation with intent behind it to claim that Grijalva - endorsed by AOC, Bernie, Casar, the Progressive Caucus, CAIR, and Working Families Party to name a few - winning in a landslide is a rebuke of the Mamdani coalition
a comically poor understanding of the race from the Times
"what's needed now is courage," says obama to a small group of rich people out of the public eye
“I think it’s going to require a little bit less navel-gazing and a little less whining and being in fetal positions. And it’s going to require Democrats to just toughen up,” Obama said at a private fundraiser in NJ Friday. "What’s needed now is courage.” cnn.com/2025/07/14/pol…
The central scam of the “abundance” messaging is the implied notion that America somehow currently lacks the resources and capacity to meet the basic needs of every resident
America does not lack abundance. America lacks politicians, pundits, and political parties that are willing to oppose the billionaires hoarding all the abundance while everyone else suffers.
Who is the "you" in "you can't build anything" supposed to be? Has the DSA been running NY and SF for the last 30 years? Did they write these codes? These are failures of the Democratic establishment. He's talking to himself. The left being referenced got here yesterday.
This is the angriest I’ve heard Obama in years and it’s over people not respecting an airport book.
it’s always the moderates who say nonsense like “the debate is no longer progressive vs. moderate” to try and make it about literally anything else, like age, when it really isn’t! it’s ALWAYS been ideology; centrists just wants to keep cashing the AIPAC and corporate checks
The debate is no longer progressive vs. moderate; that is very 2017. The debate is how do you answer one question: Is the second Trump administration an existential threat to democracy or is it bad but survivable? I believe it is an existential threat. nytimes.com/2025/06/27/us/…
Glad that @JWMason1 correctly noted that while Mamdani focused on affordability, he didn't duck or move right on other issues. dissentmagazine.org/online_artic...

Of the several dozen Mamdani pieces I have read in the last few weeks, this one from @JWMason1 is perhaps the best. Give it a read---you will learn some things. dissentmagazine.org/online_article…
people shouldn't be surprised when WSJ news reporters are fair and good. they are fair and good!
Wall Street Journal has a weirdly positive profile of Mamdani today
