Does anyone want to hang out in a Zoom with me on Saturday night and read Jane Greer poems to each other? Seriously. This sounds so good to me.
I am deeply saddened by the news of Jane’s death. I never met her, but she was a boisterous, provocative, funny online penpal, and, most importantly, a poet of rare lyric grace. It was an honor to publish the poem below earlier this summer.
Some lit journals pay nothing. Today, appreciatively, I received a modest check from @utulsa for this poem, which appeared in @NimrodJournal last month. Editor-in-chief @BorisDralyuk and his excellent young staff put out a first-class journal that respects the folks it publishes.
Rest in Peace, Jane Greer (known as @NorthDakotaJane in these parts). She was one of the great formalists of her generation.

“If I said that the monarch butterfly / My daughter raised from larva to adult / Was an enchanting metaphor that crawled / Into our lives, then lofted, winged, out—/ It wouldn’t be quite true…” *It’s that time of year again! The rest of my poem is here: modernagejournal.com/metamorphosis/…
I’m working on a little manifesto about why I will not use AI in any stage of my art. One main reason is that I think my audience deserves to know when art is 100% human-made, and when it’s not.
