I’m working on a little manifesto about why I will not use AI in any stage of my art. One main reason is that I think my audience deserves to know when art is 100% human-made, and when it’s not.
Okay, this is really taking off! To keep track of who's interested, I created an email address--please shoot me an email at [email protected]. The first thing I'm doing is creating a manifesto with principles for writers. From there, we'll expand to other media.

I was at a four-day academic seminar with Gen Z students and I did not see them take out their phones except to call a rideshare, get someone else's number, or check email except when we specifically asked them (to complete a survey). THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT
Can't read the article because of the paywall, but this sounds good.
Writing is thinking. I came to appreciate "Alcestis" in the process of writing about it.
Yes. Writing is not a second thing that happens after thinking. The act of writing is an act of thinking. Writing *is* thinking. Students, academics, and anyone else who outsources their writing to LLMs will find their screens full of words and their minds emptied of thought.
Please weigh in with different media—dm me if you’re NOT a writer and have thoughts on this!
I suspect “Not using” really needs careful distinctions between generative functions vs diagnostic or analytical functions - for example, I’m editing a film right now that would be very difficult to make without the assistance of advanced transcription and translation tools.…
I’m serious, we need to develop something like kashrut for artists. I don’t want AI involved in the editing, production, marketing or reviewing of my work. I want the whole damn process certified kosher!
My recent article on AI slop is now no longer behind the Scotsman paywall and is free for all to see. Cheers. Link: scotsman.com/future-scotlan…
This corner needs a restaurant with a small kid's play area attached. There are TONS of young families within walking distance and it would be an absolute smash.
This intersection was actually a focus area for the new Master Plan. You have this site, the abandoned Rite Aid, and now Frenz & Sons hardware for sale. Upzoning here would be great, and the condo/parking garage idea would alleviate our unquenchable thirst for parking.
I must confess I don't understand the Trump admin's approach to immigration enforcement, where companies that employ illegal labor at scale get off free, millions of scammers are left alone, but legitimate asylum seekers from Iran get arrested. @StephenM youtube.com/watch?v=KyP3qJ…
"The cost of relying on AI is a degradation of our most basic, fundamental cognitive capacities." A powerful argument from philosopher Anastasia Berg (@a_n_a_berg) on the real stakes of AI in education. Watch the clip and tell us what you think.
