Young people shaping the future.

But its a huge win for state leaders and communities nationwide to keep shaping an AI future that’s innovative and protects our humanity, safeguarding kids, teens, and vulnerable communities along the way.
The Senate voted 99-1 (!!!) to strip the measure pausing state AI regulations from the tax bill early this morning. A huge loss for Silicon Valley leaders, big tech companies and venture capital who lobbied for the provision. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
Today, Common Sense Media, @EncodeAction, @NCOSE, @ncypalliance, @fairplayforkids and 170 organizations sent a letter to Congressional leaders urging them to not revive the AI moratorium. See the full letter here: bit.ly/AISafetyLetter

Big victory for parents, kids and workers
In a stunning reversal, the Senate voted 99-1 this morning to strip from Trump's big bill a 10-year moratorium on state-level AI regulations. The landslide came after Sen. @MarshaBlackburn abandoned a deal with @tedcruz to support a pared-back, 5-year pause.
We are so incredibly thankful for our legislators such as @MarshaBlackburn who upheld the wellbeing of families and kids across the country over that of Big Tech profit. Also major thank you to all other orgs involved in mobilizing against this moratorium to keep tech innovative…
Just in: A compromise deal on the 10-year state AI law moratorium is *off* after Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn) pulled out of the agreement. She’ll now oppose the moratorium. Statement from @MarshaBlackburn:
Oh my god. Amendment passes 99-1. We actually won, the moratorium is dead. Cruz and Thune themselves voted for it on the floor.

Thank you to Sen. @MarshaBlackburn for standing up to the 10-year AI law moratorium!! Tech safeguards are critical for kids, artists and creators, consumers, and Americans across the country. Thank you for being a champion for policy that puts people first!
if the AI moratorium makes it through, we really are heading down the accelerationist timeline in a bad way. AI regulation in the US (and in the west generally) will be in the hands of Big Tech and every trend we see now — for slop, misinformation, social substitution — increases
100% agree. Folks should call their Senators in the next 24 hours to let them know just how bad this will be. We have guidance here! actionnetwork.org/call_campaigns…
