Hi Twitter! Thrilled to share that I plan to enroll at @StanfordMed for medical school! I'm excited to engage with The PRIDE Study and budding gender affirming surgical program! Thank you @reece_nguyen for your mentorship through this decision! #MedTwitter #transhealth
Training for a marathon during intern year (during night float especially) is no joke! Please donate if you can and share with anyone and everyone you know!
I’m running my tenth (!!!) NYC marathon this year and so proud to be fundraising for @ProjectRenewal ✨ please donate if you can and share widely! This will be my very first race as a doctor and I couldn’t be happier ❤️ fundraisers.nyrr.org/joya-ahmad-md
My article on gender detachment is published in @SociusJournal! We often assume that everyone has a gender. But some people feel detached from gender. Based on 30 interviews with asexual individuals, I argue that gender categorization is compulsory--but it doesn't need to be.
I’m so honored to receive the @stanfordanes Resident Advocate and Engagement Award tonight. Thank you to our amazing residents! Working alongside you is one of the most rewarding parts of my job. I’m grateful for the opportunity to support you and grow with you! 🤩
The most entertaining way to study for Step 1 is fact checking medical shows and/or pausing them when there is a concept I don't fully understand and doing a quick review. Big shout out to The Pitt, The Resident, and Grey's Anatomy for carrying me through. #medstudent
A glimmer of hope amongst the chaos. This 3-4 year labor of love is finally published. Using qualitative findings, we offer a framework for gender-affirming care that can be used as a benchmark/evaluative tool for care programs #transhealth #lgbthealth doi.org/10.1186/s12889…
PEPFAR is one of the most successful global health programs ever. It provides HIV treatment for over 20 million people. And now it faces a funding delay of up to 6 months. Without access to treatment, HIV can rebound in less than a month. This is self-defeating stupidity.
We find that Injectable estradiol esters effectively reach guideline-recommended concentrations but at lower doses than recommended. Route of administration and type of ester do not significantly impact estradiol concentrations. doi.org/10.1210/clinem… #transhealth #lgbthealth

Noticed while doing chart review that my nails match the epic tool bar. Very mindful, very demure, very cutesy. #medschool #medstudent

For those of you applying #anesthesiology in #Match2025, I’d be SO HAPPY to help read ERAS personal statements or talk about my (admittedly limited) experiences at @UCLAAnes so far as a PGY-1! 🌴☀️ my DM’s are always open!! ❤️🔥 GOOD LUCK through this silly crazy process 😅
To the #premed who’s scared that they won’t be able to do fun things in med school, I just saw our lord and savior Chappell Roan nearly front row. If you want to make fun happen while in school, you absolutely can ❤️

Breaking my twitter silence to share that I've begun recruitment for my dissertation research! If you'd like to help me spread the word, you can circulate this flyer (ngl, kinda proud of this one) or link to the screener: redcap.link/jozsaf31
*me, yet again, doing a chart review project after swearing for the seventh time that I'd never do a chart review project again*
“I’m in the trenches” the trenches:
New pub alert! Young MSM in focus groups, especially those with busy/inconsistent schedules, generally preferred long acting PrEP options. However, they raised concerns about side effects and poor outcomes/waning protection from missed doses. #lgbthealth doi.org/10.1007/s10461…
Grateful to share that I have joined the @StanfordMed MD/MS REACH cohort. I am honored to have the opportunity to spend a fully funded master's year here at Stanford to focus on the promotion of health equity, especially in gender-affirming care contexts!
