In case you missed it last week: I've got a new tutorial out on how to map 85,000+ Census tracts performantly in #rstats with no external tiling required. Learn how here: walker-data.com/posts/national…
I haven't read this book, but the authors (Grant & Di Tanna) know their stuff, and they provide code for every script/engine. Meta- and mega-analysis one of those places where Bayes is natural and often easier than non-Bayes.

A tribute to the longevity and stability of R: I ran the R code (over 700 lines) from the 2004 first edition of my book "Linear Models with R". Only two errors, both due to obsolete packages and both easily fixed.

You should read his book. It's genuinely illuminating. He did much good for the world.
I'm deeply saddened to share that Donald Shoup passed away last night. He was the ideal academic—curious, methodical, and concerned with turning ideas into real-world change. TAing his parking course has one of the greatest honors of my life. Rest in peace, Shoup Dogg.
