I was elected city delegate at my precinct caucus then later inexplicably removed from the list. I saw my name clearly denoted as a city delegate in the caucus report book. When I asked him about it, the DFL Chair said that some delegates were "randomly" removed by credentials🤷♀️
🗳️ Take: I've seen some poorly run conventions, but the Minneapolis DFL convention might take the crown. Many delegates couldn't vote or their votes weren't counted on the first ballot, resulting in a total breakdown that undermined the democratic process.
Release the list!
The city's party has disputed this assertion, saying the online system may have been slow, but it did count every vote cast. Background >> axios.com/local/twin-cit…
There were around 650 of those delegates present, and 400 alternates waiting to fill the rest of those 140ish unfilled slots. The practice ballot had over 1000 responses. There should have been around 800 votes. People weren't counted. Please accept the truth now that you have it
You're incorrect. There were 792 delegates plus designated party leaders. Alternates can replace all of those delegate slots and were replaced first by subcaucus, then precinct, then ward.
300ish people decided which candidates represents the party of tens of thousands of people in Minneapolis. Beyond time for the DFL endorsement to go away
Ballots won’t be counted until tomorrow most likely, but the likelihood that a quorum wouldn’t be affirmed is … low? It seems only 300ish votes are required and I can see something like 300 people here
This isn’t Fateh’s first controversial “win” though no one will likely go to jail for perjury related to voter fraud on this one. But letting someone who was banned from party leadership run the electronic voting doesn’t instill trust and, in the end, didn’t merit it either.
Seems legit.
At 9:30 p.m., the @MinneapolisDFL is now voting for endorsements based on the raising of attendee badges. With only @OmarFatehMN supporters present, Fateh was just announced as DFL-endorsed candidate. A @Jacob_Frey campaign spox confirms the mayor's supporters had left
You can’t get endorsed by a badge count in a competitive race where there are 800 delegates. If anyone says they’re DFL endorsed then everyone should.
If anyone claims endorsement in this circus, everyone should. If you don’t like it, take it to court. The state party needs to step up and end this charade.
If I were the Davis campaign, I’d be pretty upset to be eliminated with less than 600 of 800 votes cast on a shoddy electronic system. Next ballots will be paper.
Minneapolis DFL endorsement for Mayor results round 1: 577 total votes (plus 1 abstention) 2 no endorsement 2 Brenda Short 23 Jazz Hampton 115 DeWayne Davis 182 Jacob Frey 253 Omar Fateh Jacob Frey and Omar Fateh advance to Round 2.
The idea that less than 600 votes were cast in a room w/several hundred more delegates (not even including alternates). The Minneapolis DFL knows their system screwed up -- they're ditching it to do paper ballots -- but is moving forward anyway. It's not hard to figure out why.
.@Jacob_Frey's spokesperson @darwinforsyth on the mic: "There are fewer votes than there were delegates checked in, even if there were no alternates upgraded. The first ballot results are not valid." He moves to redo the first ballot — i.e. restore Davis, Hampton and Short
The GENIUS Act explicitly bars members of Congress and federal officials from profiting off stablecoins but EXEMPTS the president, vice president, and their families. This carve-out allows Trump to leverage his position for personal gain without conflict-of-interest barriers.
“In 47 years, I’ve never seen my father doodle.”
My father has a very specific way of speaking. People all over the world have mimicked it for decades. The insanity written in the Wall Street Journal, AIN’T IT and everyone knows it. Also in 47 years I’ve never seen him doodle once. Give me a break with the fake “journalisming’
Left: Laura Loomer says Trump only "writes notes in big black Sharpie." Right: Alleged Trump birthday note to Epstein is "hand drawn with a heavy marker."
That WSJ story is also written like they have much more in the barrel. Folks are kidding themselves if they think WSJ didn’t expect the “I’ll sue you!” and “It’s fake!” responses. More to come, I’m sure. So many people are going to look so stupid for carrying this guy’s water.
Maybe I don’t have Nancy Pelosi’s political chops, but we’re 16 months from an election & this seems like a vulnerable spot to focus on now—one that divides the Trump base more than any other single issue. Once people accept that he’s a liar, disputing his lies might be easier?
