The administration’s proposal to convert scientist positions to Schedule F—political appointees—has enormous implications for the independence of program managers and institute directors. If you have comments about the proposed change, submit by June 7.

Does anyone have concerns about the Executive Order on Monday. Are we moving toward martial law?

Please share this letter from the Coalition for the Life Sciences re termination of ongoing NIH grants. It's a breach of trust betw researchers and govt, bad for trainees, potentially fatal for patients in clinical trials, and diminishes US science. coalitionforlifesciences.org/cls-calls-on-t…
Scientists, we need your stories! Post a 2-minute video on whatever social media apps you use. Show us your empty labs, tell us about the grant you are waiting for, and talk about why you do what you do. Tag @CLS_Advocates and #Cuts2Science. Tag your Members of Congress!

🌱 Incredible book by @jo44atWID. It's a powerful reminder of the transformative potential of regenerative agriculture and sustainable land management. Through these practices we can revive depleted soil, enhance biodiversity, and combat climate change.🌍✨ #SoilStewardship

20 years ago, Davies and team published one of my favorite papers in @PNASNews (pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pn…). It continues to be a source of curiosity and inspiration in my work. Excited and humbled that our study is published today in the same journal. pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pn…

Good luck, Tim!
I start as dean at @RockefellerUniv this week, and I expect my arrival will be less dramatic than that of my uncle Donald Stearns who in 1949 was arrested outside the gates of Rockefeller after leading police on a guns-blazing, high-speed car chase across Manhattan.
It's exciting to watch the @TinyEarthNet grow and expand. I am awed and humbled by how the network runs on the power of the TEPI volunteers who seem to have boundless energy and good will to improve the curriculum and help both students and other instructors. Thank you TEPIs!

Yes, I am bringing this to Madison this week. I will see if I can get @jo44atWID to sign it! @univpugetsound @ASMicrobiology
We’ll be happy to read it whenever it arrives!😀

We love to see MDTP students sharing their science! Big congrats to @MageshShruthi on her first oral presentation at an in-person conference @jo44atWID #UWMadison
I’m so happy that after 2+ years of pandemic, I am finally able to attend conferences in-person. My very first oral presentation at a conference as a graduate student. #ASMMicrobe2022 #WomenInSTEM @UWMadisonMDTP
