Jessie Sunner
@jessieksunner
BC Minister of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills and MLA for Surrey-Newton. Human rights lawyer, trade unionist, community advocate.
Thank you Surrey-Newton! 🧡 I am incredibly honoured that you have elected me to serve as your MLA. The real work starts now. I look forward to working hard for each and every one of you and ensuring your voices are heard in Victoria.

This is wildly out of touch with people in Surrey. If they’re willing to stop a bridge that’s almost done, what wouldn’t they cancel? The SkyTrain? The Hospital & Cancer Centre? New schools? Their ideas aren’t about “saving money” - they’re about leaving Surrey behind. Again.
This is lunacy. Transportation Critic @HarmanBhanguBC says the BC Conservatives would make cuts by stopping infrastructure projects that are already underway - starting with the Pattullo Bridge, which is almost complete. 1/3🧵
We’re working hard to build infrastructure that makes peoples lives better and improve our communities. The Conservatives want to cancel major projects that people need, including ones that are almost done! We can’t afford BC Conservative cuts.
Woke up to wonderful news. Kevin, Darian and Jesse are safe and sound! Tremendously thankful for the heroic work of the rescue team. The three drillers demonstrated remarkable courage over the 60+ hours of being trapped underground – now, finally reunited with their loved ones.
I can’t describe the relief we all feel knowing that these three workers are going to be able to go home to their families. My sincere thanks go out to everyone who worked tirelessly to make this rescue happen! facebook.com/share/p/16vevZ…
Canadians are positive people. We’ve always been good neighbours, but we know how to stand up against threats to our sovereignty, our economy and our jobs.
This weekend, I attended the Dashmesh Field Hockey tournament, and even picked up a stick for the first time in years! A special moment to give awards to the women’s teams, after growing up playing field hockey myself. Thank you to the athletes, parents, coaches, and organizers.

No matter what Trump’s ambassador says, Canadians aren’t “mean and nasty” for choosing to buy Canadian and travel locally. We’re taking a stand against Trump’s threats to our sovereignty and standing on our own two feet. Let's hold the line.
Today, we signed a groundbreaking agreement with First Nation and Hereditary Chief partners to develop the North Coast Transmission Line and deliver clean power to the North. Together, we created a new partnership model - one that will see First Nations as project co-owners.
8 years ago yesterday, John Horgan was sworn in as B.C.’s 36th Premier. Thinking of Ellie, Nate, and Evan - and of everything John gave to this province. 🧡
Today, I was sworn in as B.C.’s Minister of Post-Secondary Education & Future Skills. It’s the privilege of a lifetime to take on this responsibility. I look forward to working with students, institutions, and communities across B.C. to build a stronger future together. 🧡

We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Shane Kelly, a Cops for Cancer Tour de North rider. We stand with the Prince George RCMP, the victims and their families, and the Tour de North team in the face of this senseless act. news.gov.bc.ca/32570

Had a wonderful start to the morning celebrating International Yoga Day with the Indo-Pacific Foundation of Canada in June, a great reminder of the power of mindfulness and community. 🧘♀️🌏
Recently, I attended two amazing sports tournaments: BC Tigers Miri Piri & Sikh Games Canada. Great to meet Jeevan Badwal who once played on these fields & is now representing our community on the @WhitecapsFC. What a reminder that big dreams can start right here at home! 💫

The #BCLeg Democratic and Electoral Reform Committee is travelling this week meeting people across the province to hear about democratic engagement and voter participation #BCpoli See the meeting calendar: bcleg.ca/3ThSSA6. Listen live: bcleg.ca/webcasts.
The province contributed $4.7 million dollars to this project. Look forward to attending future events at Bear Creek Park🙌🏾 #GrowingCommunityFund @amnashahbc @jessieksunner @JagrupBrar1 @GarryBeggBC

Cheering on our amazing female athletes at the BC Big Bash Women’s T20 Exhibition Match. It was incredible to meet the women’s team and hear how cricket has shaped their lives. Happy to join this event celebrating women in sports, cricket, and the community!
Hate has absolutely no place in BC. Our government is taking action by expanding funding for our @BCRCMP Hate Crimes Unit. This investment ensures enhanced investigations, stronger victim supports, & reaffirms our commitment to building a safer, more inclusive province for all.
Hate has no place in #BC. That’s why we're investing in the B.C. Hate Crimes Unit – led by the @BCRCMP – to protect communities, respond to incidents more effectively and ensure those who spread hate are held accountable. news.gov.bc.ca/32542
Being able to have a child shouldn’t depend on how much money you make. That’s why we launched B.C.’s first-ever, publicly funded IVF program today. news.gov.bc.ca/releases/2025H…
We’ve heard from homebuilders across B.C. - they want to build homes, but rising costs are a challenge. Today, we’re making it easier to get homes built by development costs to occupancy with a 25% deposit up front. Lowering the costs of building much needed homes across BC🙌🏾
