The blog post summarising the article (on teaching students how to refuse engaging in harmful research) that @Jamiejhagen, @lewiseturner and I published in @TeachinginHE earlier this summer is now out 😊🩷
"Conversations about what teaching refusal can and should look like continue to be crucial to remaking our higher education institutions" - new blog post from @lewiseturner, @Jamiejhagen and @j_p_eggert about saying 'no' in #highereducation... …achinginhighereducation.wordpress.com/2025/07/28/tea…
The most wonderful part of my trip to Bosnia was the masjids. Each one open for women. Having access to the main prayer hall & the women’s sections being equally beautiful. The brothers, young and old giving Salam and their genuine happiness to have you there. Alhamdulilah🤍
Catching up with @Maz_Idriss in Coventry, talking research, policy and life 😊🩷

No words, no words 💔
Questions from Gaza's Children as compiled by staff from the Palestine Trauma Centre in Gaza:
It was so good to have you with us in Ukraine at our @associationruta conference on imagination, new visions and connections and close the event with the bang that was our panel on dissent with a transregional critique of leftist campism, selective anti-imperialism and solidarity
Those campist idiots who think all Ukrainians are anti-Palestinian should be at the conference in Ukraine where I am currently. Talking to and socialising with Ukrainians, plus other victims of Russian imperialism from Kazakhstan, Kirghizstan, Lithuania, Georgia, Chechnya,
What great discussions we had today 🥰 at #DSA2025 roundtable on arts-based methods for religions and development research, co-convened by @ETomalin and me, with presentations by researchers, practitioners and activists from Africa, Asia and Europe 😊🩷 @devcomms

It's out 🎉😊❤️ In 'Teaching to say "no"' (published now in @TeachinginHE), @Jamiejhagen, @lewiseturner & I build on decolonial, indigenous scholarship to discuss how university teachers can teach their students how to refuse to engage in harmful research. tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…

In Westminster today, as invited speaker at parliamentary launch of new Bond Working Group on Faith in Development and Humanitarianism 😊🩷

.@nooremaryamk, @balochsadia2 and my journal article on gender, activism and conflict in Balochistan (that was first published in Feb. 2024) now has an issue number in @Alternatives_J 😍 journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.11…. DM me if you don't have access but would like a copy 😊
One of the most significant insights from Iqbal is his rejection of the artificial dichotomy between "Islamic" and "Western" knowledge. Knowledge, in its essence, is universal; epistemology is concerned with truth and validity, irrespective of its cultural/ideological origins.
Representing the academic team at the launch of the Lozells Health Commission's first report on health inequalities in Birmingham (for which we coordinated the research) 😊🩷

Please donate to support refugee and IDP families in Egypt and Gaza, if you can. Even small amounts add up and help. chuffed.org/project/123731…
May I request anyone who sees this leaves a comment to boost? I had to divert funds to G*za, now one of my refugee families still needs the rest of the annual rent. I only have 3 families outstanding.
5 years after we started working on it, 4 years after first desk reject, 2 years after second, 2 years of peer review later 😵💫 so happy (and relieved) Behar Sadriu's and my article on Islamic organisations' domestic Covid response in the UK has now been accepted by 'Disasters' 🥰

So happy my article on LGBT & faith actors in development is now out in @DipDsaa following 2023 @devcomms workshop. I discuss how LGBT-critical Muslim development actors try to navigate western organisations' push for LGBT inclusion in Europe & Middle East tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…

Wait till they hear the Adhān, Quranic or a wird recital in a mode reflective of Henan Opera or Shaanxi dialect! That which serves an ‘urfic purpose may not live up to ummatic ideals.
This Adhan is very representative of many US mosques, especially those founded by indigenous Americans who've been practicing Islam for generations. Though not as polished as others, I'm sure this man has been calling the Adhan daily for longer than most criticizing him have been…
