This is a really good thread (except, in my opinion, the unnecessary reference to Trotsky, who I'm not a fan of).
1/ 🧵 We don’t need to wait for Sharaa. Islam doesn’t teach passive obedience to corrupt rulers. The Prophet ﷺ said: “The best jihad is a word of truth in front of a tyrannical ruler.” We are able to act by ourselves from the ground-up.
His name is Ahmed Zuhair Khaddour. He was 23 years old. Ahmed was asked by the security members to bark, they hit him in the head with the butt of the gun because he refused to bark, causing a brain haemorrhage. He died hours later. Humiliation remains a reality.
Yesterday three young Alawite men were stopped at a checkpoint outside their village of Karto #Tartous and beat by security members. Ahmed died of his wounds. The town held a funeral protest today and the checkpoint members were arrested. Now we must see what their punishment is
#Syria: a Druze shrine was also torched last week in the village of Qarassa (NW. #Suwayda), after it was seized by Government or tribal fighters.
S. #Syria: 100s of buildings were torched and burned in #Suwayda province past 3 days. Retaliations and counter-retaliations wrecked havoc on the residential areas.
No condemnation of the Zionist murderers. No promise to sanction the murderers, or even to stop sending them weapons. Only weasel words. Either the UK is damned, or this participant in the genocide will end up behind bars.
The suffering and starvation unfolding in Gaza is unspeakable and indefensible.
I fear we’re past the turning point. This is irreversible and the path leads us straight to hell. #GazaGenocide
Let's hope this is a turning point, and that decades of western support for the Zionist obscenity will finally end - but I doubt it.
This should be the default position.
Ms Rachel says she won’t work with people who haven’t spoken out about Gaza. There are supposed to be consequences for genocide denial and support. Now imagine if more people with power and platforms did this.
The terrible violence of the last days has divided Syria's sects more than ever, and has reduced state authority. Not at all a victory for the new authorities.
In Suwayda, there was a police force made up of locals under the Interior Ministry control. There was also a governor in the city, ministers visited schools etc. All of this has vanished now. x.com/QalaatAlMudiq/…
Israel is feeding Gaza LESS THAN the Nazis fed people at Auschwitz.
Defense Minister Murhaf Abu Qasra is directly overseeing the investigation into military abuses in Suwayda, vowing zero tolerance even for Defense Ministry members. All those seen in the shocking footage will be investigated, with findings to follow.
The Defense and Interior Ministries condemned circulating videos of field executions in Suwayda, and launched an urgent investigation to identify the perpetrators, and vowed the harshest penalties, stressing that no unauthorized groups are allowed in the military operations zone.
Syria’s defense minister says there will be ‘no tolerance’ to perpetrators in Sweida, even if they were a member of the Defense Ministry.
⚠️ Graphic content. This is Syria today. Armed men in military gear ask a civilian, “What are you?” He says, “Syrian.” “What does Syrian mean? Are you Druse or Muslim?” He replies, “Druse.” They shoot him. Screaming God’s name, they curse him, call him a dog.
Did an emergency episode with @AstroRamiEmad. He spoke about what his family has gone through in the last week and expressed his trauma. Take a deep breath and listen. (🔗👇) Syrians must reckon with where our current government is falling short, not brush it aside.

Good morning world, Here is your morning update: 4 Palestinians, including 2 children, have died of hunger in Gaza since dawn.
