Containment of COVID is a fool's errand. Why? In order for containment to work, it has to work everywhere. Not just in this or that neighborhood, but in all neighborhoods. Not just in this or that county, but in all counties. 1/x
Trump is in danger of repeating Bush's post-9/11 mistakes. The difference is that in 2003, dissenting voices were scarce. Today, sane voices on the left and right are converging. Honored to co-author this WaPo op-ed with my friend @mattduss washingtonpost.com/opinions/2025/…
No. The big questions concern war aims: 1. Can US-ISR destroy Iran’s nuclear capacity, not just set it back? 2. Will the onslaught yield regime change? 3. Will Iran “unconditionally surrender,” the stupidest war aim of all? In all instances, the most likely answer is no.
If the 🇺🇸/🇮🇱 launch a major air campaign against 🇮🇷, there is no doubt damaging strikes will be inflicted in the initial attacks. The big questions are: - Can 🇮🇷 strike back powerfully? - Can the 🇺🇸/🇮🇱 sustain the campaign? - Will 🇮🇷 be helped by its assumed friends (🇷🇺/🇨🇳)?
Pro-war voices can insist that the US can stay out of Iran if the regime collapses. But Iranian history, ethno-sectarian dynamics, and the US alliance structure mean American won't be able to avoid the vexing aftermath. Share if you don't want that. unherd.com/2025/06/the-re…
This is not our war. But if it were, Congress must decide such matters according to our Constitution. I’m introducing a bipartisan War Powers Resolution tomorrow to prohibit our involvement. I invite all members of Congress to cosponsor this resolution.
When things go well, Trump takes credit. When things go poorly, he assigns blame. In a week or three—or in the months ahead—Trump will start blaming others for the darkness visible that he (and neocon Dems) have unleashed.
I am a Nobody, but I stand with @ggreenwald. He infuriates all the right Somebodies.
Congratulations @VPrasadMDMPH and @US_FDA and @MartyMakary If you care about evidence-based practice, there’s no better choice than VP. This is a win for US healthcare and a giant step forward in regaining lost trust We endorse Professor Prasad 👇🏻

This article bothered me so much because of its' basic errors of fact and logic, I have written a rebuttal. Make sure accurate messaging prevails over the fearmongering by RT'ing widely

Mahmoud Khalil never expressed "hatred" toward the US. To the contrary, he came to the US, is married to an American with an American baby on the way, on a path to citizenship. He criticized Israel. But because you're drowning in AIPAC money, you think Israel is part of the US.
Mahmoud Khalil hates the United States and what we stand for—so his removal should come as welcome news. It is a privilege to be granted a visa or green card to live and study in the United States of America. When you advocate for violence, glorify and support terrorists that…
This is one of the best assessments of why the Democrats lost again, by @kath_krueger. 👇
The #Resistance pushed an over-reliance on pop culture signifiers rather than policy and a belief in the system, in particular prosecutors and the FBI, to deliver us from evil. It's time to bury this style of politics, writes @kath_krueger. bit.ly/3Zhi9OD
Nothing is more fitting. In 2020, Francis Collins dishonorably called Jay a fringe epidemiologist because Jay did not support school closure & lockdown. Francis should have had a series of public debates on these policies, but he demonized. So it's fitting Jay gets his job.
Peter hotez, the guy you cite, promoted cloth masking of 2-year-olds and school closure- that's anti-science. Believing in vaccines is not scientific either. Some vaccines are vital (MMR) Others are debatable (maternal RSV) and others net harmful (COVID in young men) No nuance.
We should all remember that RFK Jr would not be possible without Ashish. Had people like him actually demanded evidence for pandemic policy, there wouldn't be a huge public backlash against them. He pushed billion dollar drugs without data. Total sellout.
This is an extraordinarily bad choice for the health of the American people The HHS Secretary shapes health policy in profound ways He would oversee Medicare for instance -- and determine and shape your parents and grandparents health insurance He and people he appoints…
S, simply S, reflecting The Upside Down at a Bay Area museum. Happily S saved me from a wicked creative slump. I appreciate her calm in the combat of Red and Blue colors and all the tension and drama it holds. #portraitphotography

Properly shading each state based on 2024 election results, the U.S. is a far more purple place than it at first appears.
