🚨New Data Flips the Transgender Bullying Narrative on Its Head A new Finnish study found that trans-identified adolescents—especially those who identify as “nonbinary”—were more likely to bully others than they were to be bullied. This study complicates the dominant…
The newly appointed Chancellor of Cambridge University says he wants to 'protect and defend' academic freedom and freedom of speech. Lord Smith tells #R4Today that if students disagree with someone, they should 'go along and listen' and start a discussion.
This is disgusting and terrifying in equal measure. It can not stand. Some parts of Europe are losing the liberality the europeanness that we so celebrated after WW2. It was shallower than we hoped
NEW DETAILS ABOUT THE ANTISEMITIC VUELING FLIGHT INCIDENT: The family of the 21-year-old camp director — the one we saw violently arrested and handcuffed on the floor — has shared new information. After her arrest, the young woman was taken alone into a room inside the airport…
The goal here is obvious. They want to remove the moral high ground from Jews so they can then label them an "oppressor" like they do for whites. Soon, we'll have kids learn about the problem of "Jewish supremacy" and Jewish kids will be forced into "anti-Zionist" courses.
BREAKING: The largest teachers’ union in America is pushing Holocaust education that erases Jews—referring vaguely to “victims of different faiths.” Imagine teaching about slavery without mentioning Black Americans. Why is this acceptable when it comes to Jews?
Whenever my feed on X starts to feel particularly stupid, I go watch Di and Himadri Chatterjee having long conversations about books and plays, and it restores my soul
I don't think a misanthrope is capable of creating characters such as Rosalind, Emilia, Paulina, Hermione, Kent, Albany's servant, Falstaff, Imogen, etc.
The latest Law Quarterly Review contains a very interesting article by David Wilde, entitled ‘Universities and the rule against political charities’. Not open access, but I encourage all who can access to read it. Adds a new dimension to the question of institutional neutrality.
No academic should any longer be forced to issue a statement of compliance with the idea of “decolonising the curriculum”, writes @ianpacemain thecritic.co.uk/depoliticising…
Interesting question - would things have been very different for Sunak if he had won in 2022 the first time, and didn’t have to clear up the mess left behind by Truss?
We should never have gone to Liz Truss before we went to Rishi Sunak, it should have been: May, Johnson, Sunak! Rishi did a great job for the situation he was handed
Absolutely it is the employer’s responsibility. When it is multiple people turning on a single one, they find it easier to join in rather than investigate the multiple people. HR people who join in such mobbing need to face disciplinary action themselves.
University EDI and HR teams need to read this judgment in full. Harassment and discrimination driven by staff networks are still the responsibility of the employer.
This “Safe With Me” campaign is unbelievably dangerous. No one - and most especially not children - should ever be exhorted to override safeguarding. This campaign by a BBC presenter is using children as human shields. Please act @bphillipsonMP @wesstreeting @lisanandy
A 'non-binary' BBC presenter has launched a project in which she distributes badges, saying 'Safe With Me', in schools, for children to wear in public places. They will signify to any 'trans people' nearby that the child will escort them to a toilet swlondoner.co.uk/news/23072025-…

If I were teaching Middle Eastern politics, I would want to use texts like this excellent book, which foreground the extent to which there are hotly contested readings of the history. Engaging with plural perspectives is essential to education.
This is a really important article, on how certain texts, e.g. Michelle Alexander, The New Jim Crow, or Edward Said, Orientalism, are often taught with no acknowledgement of the many criticisms which have been made of them by other scholars. chronicle.com/article/these-…
