"This is what the MSA created: a public health machine that can’t afford to let smoking die. Officials who should be advocating for harm reduction are now pushing policy that keeps people hooked on what pays the bills"

Exactly.
Anti-vapers will point to NZ's first #vape recall as justification for bans. Putting aside that 4x NZ's diacetyl limit is STILL much lower than in smoke, this recall happened precisely BECAUSE NZ has protocols in place. There's no recalls in Black Markets health.govt.nz/news/vaping-pr…
.@ChiromoHospGrp Vaping for Harm Reduction is anything but pointless. Trying to suppress free discussion is a characteristic behaviour of someone with an indefensible stance. Regardless of how it's done, preventing the uptake of e-cigarettes encourages people to smoke instead.
Champagne corks are popping at the headquarters of Australian industry-hating tobacco controllers AND illicit market entrepreneurs. I'm guessing many cigarette consumers aren't too unhappy about lower prices either. The guys in charge of the budget must be having nightmares.
Australia: Legal cigarette market declined by 50% in Q2 2025. PMI shipment is down by 83% 50% of the market is illegal now. BAT is the distant market leader in Australia. Imperial is #2 (a top-5 market). Surge of illicit will also have its toll on BAT and Imperial results
233 firebombings now That's multiple business's and lives ruined, huge insurance bills ( if they can get it) BILLIONS of dollars flowing in a steady stream to organised crime. AND THE SMOKING RATE IS GOING UP ! FAIL UPON FAIL UPON FAIL Stop the madness!

The EU’s proposed tobacco tax hike would make safer nicotine alternatives like vaping and pouches more expensive than cigarettes. This policy risks protecting smoking, not public health. @NannyFreeState in @Tobaccoharmred1: tobaccoharmreduction.net/article/war-on…
Australia says "Hi" Where now the illegal tobacco market is set to overtake the "legal" taxed tobacco rort BM lack of 20 = $15 Gov Taxed pack of 20 = $35-$50 Plus we get the added "bonus" of turf wars, arson attacks, murder, and crims earning BILLIONS!
"So, countries still need to be doing things like raising tobacco taxes, making it expensive, unaffordable to the young people and the lower-income people." That's what they did in Australia, although cigarettes are now much cheaper there thanks to the illicit market.
You should wave goodbye with your wallet to the American @LungAssociation because its specious claims contribute to the untimely deaths of the smokers it feigns to help tinyurl.com/2p9tvywu
The nicotine education trial run today went quite smoothly. A lot of scientific jargon about receptors, predominantly nAChRs.😬 There were scientific comparisons between caffeine and nicotine, both being CNS stimulants. Then, the real education started. The feedback was 1)3

Australia is a small market in terms of volume. In 2024, 5 billion sticks were sold in the legal Australian market. This year, it will be down by 30% to 3.5 billion sticks. However, commanding the highest cigarette prices in the world, Australia has a meaningful impact on…

The tobacco policy has failed. Smokers are not criminals. The suppliers are. Just scrap the excise. Let us smoke what we want, stop regulating everything. It's dumb.
Mark Butler’s legacy on tobacco control will be defined by one word: failure. Under his watch Smoking is rising among young adults for the first time in decades. Life-saving nicotine vapes have been criminalised, pushing smokers back to cigarettes. A thriving black market now…

That is @BDB_offiziell , @ninawarken a pack of illicit cigs in AU is as expensive as a pack of legal cigs will be after proposed tax raise by EU (let alone already ridiculous tax on the solution to smoking-related diseases & death: vapour products in GER). Sense of proportion?

I don't personally think Chinese manufacturers are targeting youth with these products— millions of adults respond to crude marketing. BUT that doesn't mean the products need to be defended. Adults want accessible, affordable, and satisfying flavored vapes, not gimmicks.
VTA supports @FDAtobacco’s crackdown on illicit Chinese vapor products that target youth with video games and cartoon imagery, while encouraging @RealDonaldTrump to protect adult-oriented, responsible products sold by American small businesses.
